Tesla claims the Model 3 (OPs car) has a range of 358 miles (am sure it is less than that in practice, all fuel estimates are for most all cars).

Tesla also claims that their super charger will recharge the Model 3 from dead to a range of 200 miles in 15 minutes.  I am guessing it slows down as the battery becomes more full, which is why they use that metric.

So I guess you could figure to add about 15 minutes to the drive for every 200 miles.  So a 1000 mile drive would have a total charging time of 1 hour and 15 minutes over the duration.  I am sure that's not the practical reality though, as you need to figure in time to find/get to a charger and they would need to be perfectly spaced apart.

Motor trend has some actual tested numbers and says that the newest super charger in ideal conditions charged their Model 3 from 5% to 90%, in 37 minutes.

That's significantly better than I thought. I was thinking several hours per charge. I assume the batteries have a lifespan, as do rc lipo batteries, they can only be discharged and recharged so many times. With my lipos, they can be charged faster but it kills the lifespan of the cells, I wonder if Tesla's have the same issue

That's with the public super chargers, basically if you go to a "gas station".  The best at home charger will generally give a full recharge over night. You can purchase them with the car and the cost is $750-$1500 parts and labor to have installed in your garage.

A normal extension cord and common 110v outlet gives about 3-4 miles, per hour.  They use a large amount of electricity, but the batteries are getting better and better about receiving it fast.

The model 3's battery is warrantied for 8 years or 100,000 miles.  Over which a the battery will be warrantied to retain at least 70% of it's capacity.  So if you recharged it every night for 8 years, that would be 2,920 cycles.

Thanks everyone for all the support.

Just to clear a few things up.

It’s not a model 3, it’s a model y performance.

I chose white because it looks better over time and hides imperfections. Not that you poors would understand.

Car is paid in full. I drove the Model S and preferred the more open feeling of the Y.

I still have ICE vehicles.

Specifically a 2020 4Runner and a new Ford Bronco which are also both paid off.

Currently working on getting my 65 Mustang back on the road as well.

Sorry for the late reply, was building my new PC with my non poors Intel CPU.

Keep the salt coming boys, it’s fuel for my soul.

Holy shit, so it does take a long time to charge. Someone will have those superchargers installed at their house. That's pretty decent battery longevity. I know the batteries in those are very expensive right now, kind of kills the idea of a multiple decade driven vehicle unless you can afford new batteries. I just don't see how ev's are a viable alternative unless we make huge technical advancements in battery and charging capabilities.
