The closest one is 2 hours away.
Heard about Aldi"s from Arfcom. We were in the vicinity once so we thought we'd try it. Strange brands but bought some stuff to try. Most was totally underwhelming and the rest got tossed after tasting - just nasty. |

View Quote Maybe a strained analogy, but it's a bit like Harbor Freight in that some of their offerings are first-rate at attractive prices (perhaps even manufactured on the same lines as some 'name brand' items), while others are pretty pedestrian but economical, but some are truly awful. |

I swing buy there regularly looking for the incredibly elusive tritip. |

We had the Mexican pork shoulder tonight, with their tostadas, their white Mexican cheese, their fancy salsa, and homegrown tomatoes with some homemade ranch fiesta sauce.
It was magnificent. |

What kind of chocolate do you guys recommend? And where do I find it?

Quoted: What kind of chocolate do you guys recommend? And where do I find it? View Quote In most Aldi the chocolates are on an isle end cap. The Chocuer Milk and Dark chocolate both with and without almonds are excellent. The peanut butter cups are incredible. The chocolate covered caramels are also great. All of the Moser Roth chocolate bars are great but I really like the Dark Chili. |

Did anybody else snag the beef tenderloin for $6.99/ lb recently? I spotted it last week, grabbed 4(they are small), wish I got more but I'm sure they were gone within a few hours.
Last year I cleaned them out, I think I put 10 in the freezer. Both flavors (garlic rub and peppercorn) are great, but the kids can't handle the peppercorn. |

Quoted: Ever since the horse meat incident I have not set foot in one. View Quote For those curious...in 2013 their European market was impacted by a supplier who made premade/frozen meals with a mixture of beef and horse, or completely horse depending on the batch. The supplier, based in France, did this to several of the European market grocery store companies despite marking the products as 100% beef. There was no impact on the US market and Aldi pulled all of the product from that supplier. |

Made a trip to Aldi's this morning.
I was finally able to fine the Morton's tri-tip in stock. I bought three, rtwo for me and one for my Son. I also bought a pack of the all beef hot dogs. I prepared two for lunch and they were very good. Bought one container of funnel cakes for my Son as well. Any suggestions on how to cook the tri-tip on the BGE? Follow the package instructions or dao a low & slow cook? |

Then pull the meat and get the grill really hot (750ish on my Recteq). Then return the meat and cook to about 125. Remove from heat, wrap, and let it rest for a little while you finish the sides. It's basically a giant sirloin roast. |

I'm making chili tomorrow and I'm going to give their salsa a try. Ordinarily I go with Pace because it's not full of sugar and doesn't taste like ketchup, but I'm going to give Aldi salsa a shot.

Quoted: I bought this chocolate yesterday. Holy shit. It’s amazing. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/500232/IMG_9712_jpeg-2916239.JPG View Quote $1.49 per bar? I like the milk chocolate ones with almonds. $1.39.\ Great chocolate, especially for the money. Starts to quickly melts at human skin temps which is what good chocolate should do without a lot of added garbage to raise the melting point. [and ruin the taste and mouth feel of a good chocolate] Pro tip, if you are buying GOOD chocolate on a hot day, always buy something frozen and place the chocolate in the bag with the frozen goods. |

Winking Owl is damn good wine, and it's going for $4.90 a bottle, here. It's the Evan Williams of wine.

Not a hidden gem: Strawberry Nut Keto bars - they taste vile.
But I’m looking for help with a different item. I ‘think’ that a few months ago I bought a package of Norwegian smoked salmon from Aldi, with the package containing three good-sized chunks of salmon, one of which was coated with pepper and the other two without, for about $14 IIRC. But maybe I am misremembering, and I bought that smoked salmon elsewhere. I haven’t seen it at Costco or at Trader Joe’s, so maybe I did indeed buy it from Aldi - yet I can’t seem to find it in the store. Has anyone seen what I’m describing at Aldi, or am I simply hallucinating? |
