I have lots of holes in my yard that are about as big around as a quarter. I though they were from voles, but when I stuck the hose in them to flush the critters out, the only thing to emerge were fairly large frogs/toads. I'm thinking they aren't the creatures that are actually digging the holes. I also never saw any water shoot out from other holes, but the holes I put the hose in never filled up either. Where is the water going?
ETA: the frogs emerged from the holes where I had the hose stuck in after I pulled it back out. |

This actually happened to me. I stuck a hose in my rear but eventually water came out my mouth… Check your basement, it may be full of water by this point.

Ok just googled pics of mud bug holes and mine are different. Mine don't have the little piles of dirt around the a they are just holes in the ground. Apparently toads burrow, so maybe that's my problem.

stick penis in holes
wiggle it until something latches on then pull it out of the hole and pee on it for dominance |

It sounds like they may be doing something good for the lawn.....aerating it.

Google still leads me to believe they are vole holes. I live at over 600 feet on a ridge. Never seen a crawfish near here.

I have 3 holes in My yard that are about the size of a 50c piece with no dirt mounds.
Chipmunks are living in Them. |

There are probably 2 dozen holes like those in my front yard. Those 4 are the biggest though.

Be careful about putting your bare feet near those holes.... you might end up losing one of those ugly toes |

Venomous snake holes. Over 2 dozen you say? Likely a den of thousands right under the grass.
His name was DiscoVolante. |

I have a stray cat or two in my yard to keep the snakes out... But the back 1/3 acre is a legit jungle though, I won't even go back there in the summer time. The highway department killed a massive rattlesnake on the road behind my property one day. |

That's the beginning of a sink hole. Put for sale sign up right now and avoid the loss.

Moles?
Moles are attracted by grubs (as are skunks) of beetles, and are often a cause of brown and dead areas in a lawn (from the grubs). Then you get that infestation of Japanese beetles. Treatment is long term, spreading milky spores to kill the grubs over a year or 2. No food source, no moles or grubs. The good news is that once you've treated the lawn with milky spores, they'll be good 15-25 years, and will also spread to your neighbors property. Milky spores are expensive, but worth it. |

Well its a good thing you're going barefoot in your yard. It'll show whatever is making those holes you're not one bit afraid of it.
