Okay, just got home a little while ago. Enjoyed it. Much like the first one, it was a throwback to 80's splatter.
Sure, the kills were gory and all, but the special effects (intentionally, IMO) were somewhat less than realistic. You could watch all these horrible things happen to people, but it was obvious it wasn't real. It was a tad self-indulgent. It was like Damien Leone had all these ideas and he decided to put every one of them in the movie. This was not a story that needed 2+ hours to tell. And, it got a little too "Nightmare On Elm Street: Dream Warriors" near the end. All in all though, it was fun, if you like that sort of thing. (Kinda weird having the whole theater to myself. It was like movie night at Speilberg's house.) |
