Mayo, mustard, and kraut are the go to for convenience store dogs.

Chicago style or chili cheese w onions and mustard if from Sonic.

Home is whatever is in the fridge.  Sometimes ranch, sometimes deli mustard.

Never ketchup.

I knew you were in MI when I started reading.  Deep fried? No. Koegel? Heck yes. I brought a few packs back to Kolorado last summer, along with a boat load of Bell's and Founders products. I will be doing the same this summer.

You should fry one sometime. Just for the experience. Extra points for using lard. A common misconception regarding frying is that your food absorbs the oil. It doesn't when done at the proper temp. What it does do is provide an extra snappy casing and impart a dark flavor similar to dark grill marks without the black. Similar results can be obtained carefully in your oven's broiler. Koegel's are the best I have tried though - anyway I have warmed them.

That does look good. Though it would depend on what the slaw tastes like

A Wardynski's natural casing hotdog on a fresh baked bun with just mustard is pretty freakin' good.

Sadly, the place that sold them locally closed up years ago. I've been jonesing for one ever since.

Eta:  Dammit, now I want hotdogs for supper.

Spicy Bite from 7-11 that's been on the rollers long enough to be a little crunchy.  Slather that thang with mustard, Vidalia onion relish, and top it off with their napalm nacho cheese and it's one of the best dogs around.

But I do mustard, grilled onions, grilled shrooms, cheese, and, finally, bacon.

Put whatever you want on a hotdog.  It's a strange meat that stands like a commoner in a republic with an equal meat vote.

That said, coleslaw is a way of getting rid of rotten cabbage.  I'd dig up my dead grandmother and take her exhumed body and use her skeleton fingers to punch my mom in the face before I'd eat coleslaw.  Ya'll need Jesus.

I like them three ways and in no particular order:

1. Yellow mustard and sweet relish

2. NY onion sauce and spicy mustard

3. Chili (no beans), mustard and chopped raw sweet onion.

4. Deep fry the hot dog and add any of the above toppings.

An all beef with fry sauce, a fried egg, and kimchi is really hard to beat. Developed by accident by my cousins Korean wife, and my favorite of all varieties I've tried.

I enjoy a couple of chilidogs w/onions,  but you can leave the mustard off of mine. Failing that, brown mustard and kraut.

I hate Mexico, but the hot dog vendors in Mazatlan really know how to make some tasty dogs.  I'd rank them up there with a good gyro/shawarma for the best drunk food on earth.  Some random picture from google.

I'm a fan of a simple hot dog, the best example I know of would be from a little shop called Coney Island in Fort Wayne, IN.

  1. All beef frank
  2. Steamed bun
  3. Perfectly seasoned chili (no beans)
  4. Light mustard & onion to taste, though they go a little heavy on the onion by default imho.
They are heavenly, and on a side story they probably saved my Mom's life.  When she was going through chemo and recovering from breast cancer, we literally couldn't get her to eat fucking anything, she was giving up and it was getting bad.  This was her favorite food growing up, and all be damned but she would actually eat the damn things, and it was the only thing we could get her to eat until she started feeling better.  So, there's that.

I find Detroit and Chicago style dogs to be repulsive.  A good quality frank should have a nice flavor to it.  Overdoing it with barf gravy or all those goddamn pickles and shit just overpowers everything, no point in even having the hot dog there.  Same way I feel about Chicago's retarded fucking pizza.  Every time you see one of these Chicago boneheads posting about food, they insist (like a liberal) that their way is the only and best way.

FYI Fort Wayne also happens to have some of the best sliders, with a similar simplicity to them.

Grill Ballpark Franks to an even almost blackness all the way around.

Before they start to char, begin adding BBQ sauce to them to caramelize the sauce. Put on a bun and add crumbled bacon on top.

You'd probably have to be from Rochester (or, at least, Western NY) just to know what I'm talking about (much less like it), but ...

1) Zweigles white hots

2) Grilled until outside is completely browned and casing is popping (or split and well done on a flat-top)

3) New England style bun (preferably Wegman's own brand)

4) Country Sweet Sauce

Yup, I'm weird.

Oh, and if it's not all that ... I'm going with just ketchup!

Costco Polish dogs steamed.
Bun that will fit the whole wiener helps, steam it for 20 seconds.

Paint the open bun with peanut butter, then put a layer of sweet green relish on top of that.
Place wiener on top of that then zig-zag a liberal amount of Sriracha sauce across the works.

Garnish with a little cilantro if you wish, but it's up to you.

Thank me later, many have !
