Suddenly, BP lets out a big breath into the microphone ... and he starts to tip backwards, completely losing his footing/going unconscious and falling hard onto the stage. It's jarring. View Quote |

Hot as fuck down there, and he doesn't look like the best of shape.

So his greatest achievement was being a backup rapper on a song that hit 93 on the Billboard top 100 for one week 18 years ago?
M-kay... I'm sure his family will miss him, but "Legend" may be a wee bit of a stretch as a moniker. |

You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself a round and that's what it's all about!

It is headline newsworthy that a rapper died from natural causes rather than the virtually ubiquitous lead poisoning their occupation is predisposed to.

View Quote Covid death; no matter what really happened to him. At least two years ago his death would have been ruled a C19 death, wouldn't it. Silly wasn’t it. |

Didn’t read but a lot of rappers die suddenly. Gun shots are pretty sudden.

Sounded like “you play’in wit da big host?” Whatever it was, it had real power. He tried to respond, but was literally struck speechless and lifeless. As a memorial to Big Pokey, Joe Biden and John Fetterman should do a rap concert.

LOL he actually did die onstage.
I thought the OP was using a euphemism for getting repeatedly ventilated by an 18. |

Never heard of the dude (I don't hate rap, but I'm not super into it).
Went ahead and skimmed through his 1999 album "The Hardest Pit In The Litter" on Spotify. It seems like he was sort of well-known for that one? Kind of standard late 90s fare for the genre (G-funk 'ish), at least to my ears. Lots of classic slowed-down 70's R&B samples, that square wave synth "whistle" thing, and heavy (in his case, bordering on obnoxious because they leaned into it way too hard) use of double-tracking the vocals. I know Houston had it's own "G-funk" thing going on that was similar to the West Coast vibe back int he 90s, but this - again to my ears - doesn't strike me as particularly innovative, compared to the other more well-known dudes in that particular genre. But like I said - rap isn't really my forte. |
