One man's "insurgent" is another man's "freedom fighter." After reading the text, I found myself rooting for the insurgents. Its funny, conservative people will literally support Islamic jihad because of hating Russia so much I'm not "supporting Islamic Jihad" or "hating Russia so much." As I said "after reading the text." I just didn't like the author's condescending attitude toward what his opponents were dealing with in order to fight him. You can hop off your soapbox now. |

What's the hidden meaning I am missing here, oh smartest person on the forum? If I were "complaining" about Conservatives hating their president (I did no such thing), that means you were complaining about conservatives hating Russia. After all my sentence deliberately paralleled yours. That being the case, for your "logic" to hold true, you'd have to be suggesting you are not a Conservative, as you clearly love the Rodina and her shirtless champion. Of course, I doubt you are. I question whether you are really an American. I don't question whether you are compulsively dishonest, that much is obvious. |

Its funny, conservative people will literally support Islamic jihad because of hating Russia so much Where'd you come up with that? Many of us grew up during the cold war, and when that is your childhood, somethings are hard to shake. Though Russia today is vastly different than Russia of the 70s and 80s. We don't really have any room to bash the OP, considering there's a chance we'll have a Lenin type president this time next year.

The other thing of note here is the fact that it is the FSA that tends to kick off the whole shebang. And while I don't necessarily have anything for or against Putin, anyone who goes about wiping out ISIS insurgents....I won't try to stop them, especially when it's not even on our soil. |

Quoted: Not necessarily. There are a lot of ways and means to "go rogue". The best way is to hide in plain sight. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: So when its time to do gangsta shit, you gotta prep for it with caches. Got it. Partly this post IS for the guys who say "if Obama goes for my guns, I'm going rogue". The above is what "going rogue" looks like. PS. Although, as discussed in the civil war thread, my personal opinion is that US is still at least a decade out from a civil war. However, people in USSR thought so too... Not necessarily. There are a lot of ways and means to "go rogue". The best way is to hide in plain sight. Actually, that part is true:
(examples from Ukraine again, duh) Without going too deeply into detail, Odessa and Kharkov are big Russian cities which never had a full-scale uprising because of quick&brutal action by the nationalists - some dozens got killed, hundreds got arrested, the protests fizzled (as an example, something like 80,000 people in Kharkov signed up for the militia... then it turns out that there are no weapons in the city - even the local army units were disarmed, and the lists of militia members were given to State Security by traitors among the organizers). Nevertheless, there was a rather vigorous insurgency campaign, especially in Odessa. I doubt the active resistance included more than a few dozen people, but they managed to do a "kaboom per week" for a total of something like 50 explosions - never targeting people, only State Security buildings, cars of known nationalists, etc. (republicans more or less had a ban on actual "terrorism", because reasons). Forced the nationalists to keep a full brigade of Nationalist Guard in the city and away from the frontlines. And yeah, hiding in a city is way more comfortable than the lifestyle described in OP. There was a big interview with a former "urban guerrilla" from Odessa on youtube, but I'll probably never have the time to translate it. |

Quoted: This line struck me. "Actually, this lifestyle is what prevents many potential militants from going into the forest. Those that leave are usually already involved, and flee to the country when they realize they're about to get nabbed. At this point, their choices are limited - prison, or a dugout." Or option C - Flee and seek refuge in Germany. The Boston bombers were Chechen refugees, you know... Also, now the Caucasus islamists that ran away to US/EU are coming back to wage their jihad in Ukraine and Syria. Some will get killed, but even more will likely get trained and radicalized. Plus, Ukraine will soon have an open border with EU... |

Check this book out... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1450574289?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 Was given this book by an old site supervisor. Cool. I don't have time now (and I assume ordering this book will put me on some sort of watchlist), but I'll try to get around to it sometime. |

There's an excellent VICE about this in which they state this is like the hardcore jihadist training camp. The guys who come out of "The Forest" are some of the hardest radical islamists that exist and they are then sent to Ukraine, ME, Syria, to train others and continue the fight.
The ones the make it are battle hardened. |

Seriously, it's not rocket science to figure out why a guy reporting on civil wars has a new-ish online identity. I don't bother much with PERSEC anymore, since the things simmered down a bit, and the danger was always rather small, but better safe than sorry. People in UA get thrown in jail for facebook posts pretty regularly, by both sides. I had an old account somewhere here, but it was years ago, and I long forgot the email and password. I think one of the mods questioned me about it in a recent thread. Now, back to discussing jihadists... |

I bet there are a bunch of people accidently calling an FSA insurgent a fascist during a big meeting and every stops talking, uncomfortable silence, before someone coughs and says "jihadist." Wut? Calling these people "jihadists" is a Western thing. Russians consider them criminals, the official term is "illegal armed bandit groups" (and yes, it's hilarious, because it implies that there is such a thing as legal armed bandit groups). If you notice, in OP the guy tends to call the opposition "bandits", which you won't commonly see in Western coverage. That said, yeah, liberal use of ill-fitting labels is a problem that plagues modern media on all sides. Try to objectively define "terrorist" sometime, it's an interesting exercise. |

I'm talking about how every enemy in WWII was called a fascist, or how the Ukraine are Nazis, how they call every enemy of Assad ISIS. We do it too, generalize, but I have so little respect for the Russian govt that I find it hypocritical and funny how they go out of the way to negatively label every enemy they face as some sort of criminal or deviant. |

Quick google will show that I didn't start talking about jihad until Ukraine war shut down and I devoted some attention to the Syria thing, and that I don't post much on forums other than ARF.
Plus I don't understand what this one even means - "Sioux calling you out on the main ingredients". EDIT: OK, I see you edited your post, makes sense now. Feel free to believe that my posts are propaganda in disguise, and trying to NOT DISCUSS highly contested subjects is some sort of a nefarious ploy to raise interest. For reference, this is what actual propaganda looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUekH-C3AhY I know you guys probably aren't interested, so why don't we talk about things we have similar views on? Whatever weird conspiracy theories you may come up with, facts are facts. I read Ukrainian nationalist sources and talk to them - I may disagree with most of their reasoning, but 2*2 doesn't become 5 simply because you dislike the speaker. |
