Had to get something unstuck. Didn’t have a tow strap with me but had a thick tie down. Now I have this. It’s in there good. Took some tugging to get out the thing out of the mud.

I’ve tried putting it in a vise and pulling with pliers, screwdrivers etc.

Won’t come out. What else should I do? Soak and freeze it then try to pull so it’s more ridged?

Just give up and cut it and have a shorter strap?

Vibrations. Seriously. Just needs to be bounced around at a mid to high frequency. It will loosen them come right apart.

Screwdriver.

That’s a gimmeeknot.   Wiggle it around and push in to loosen. Keep working it til it loosens.
Or get impatient and say “gimmee” that knife so I can cut that knot off.
Then burn edges.

That sucks. My OCD would not let me rest until the knot, or the whole fucking strap, was history.

Just hit it with a torch for a few minutes, should come right out.

Just buy a new one. If you used that to tow something that knot ain't coming out easy and you'll probably fray the strap all up poking at with screwdrivers and ice picks.

That would work likely. Or a lawn mower. Them just start manipulating the knot with your hands. Don't pull on anything the make the knot move a little bit and it will loosen right up.

Do this . It’s fooked . The friction from the knot tightening up will cause the nylon to melt so it is likely never coming loose and if it does I would not trust it

You fucked it. You don’t tie knots in straps. Even if you get it untied, it’s still ruined.

Soak it with  dishwashing liquid and then pound it with a rubber mallet on a wood block. . That's worked for me before.

Dead blow hammer. And next time use a half hitch or two. I pull stuck vehicles with the tractor all the time, using a shortened strap, and they come untied easily when I'm finished.

Don't bother trying to untie.   Just use it as a shorter strap from now on.

Soak it in water. This is how we at the marina untie mooring lines that have

been knotted up tight and dried out.

Yep.  Just pitch it or repurpose it.  Next time you have to double over or tie a knot in a strap put a piece of branch in the knot before, or as you tie it.  Makes it easier to get the knot out.

Once you've cut strands of the strap it's integrity at the stated load rating is junk.

That's something that I would just bring inside and keep beside my recliner.  It would work at it with a screw driver while watching TV and eventually at some point, I would get it undone.  Might not be tonight and it might not be this week, but it will loosen.

Are you saying the straps straping ability is fucked if i get it out? I’d imagine it will still strap stuff, maybe just at a lower rating?

Assuming it's nylon/polyester, it's fucked.  Probably overheated by friction and melted/fused.

Learning lesson.  Toss it and buy a new one.
