A few individuals within my department are questionable.  I've had to put out fires, provide first aid etc.  One of my coworkers is extremely hard of hearing (he is 71) so much so I'm surprised he is still able to work after each yearly hearing test for our shop floor. I've come to the conclusion that if I can't dial 911 from my cell phone I am done for.

Using a fire extinguisher:

Coworker: “it doesn’t spray!”
Me: “pull the pin”
C: “what?!”
Me: “there’s a pin! Pull it out!”
C: “…”
C: “there’s a plastic…thingy…how do I…”
Me: “pull the pin!”
C “…but the plastic…”
Me: “it’ll break when you pull the pin!”
C: :struggles:
C: :shoves the fire extinguisher in my hands:

I then proceed to pull the damned pin out and extinguish the fire. It was just a little pile of fiber that caught fire so I figured I’d let her take care of it…

absolutely zero.

there is one guy thats a combat vet from desert shield era. He would probably know where to put a tourniquet.

after that its zilch. half of them would probably stand around taking video with a cell phone and the other half would be asking what to do.

Pretty confident. Combat vet. Multiple first aid/cpr classes through work. Training outside of work. The difference, in like most cases, is the training aspect vs real world situations. Been through both.

We have "official" protocols at work, but an "unofficial" agreement with each other to just call 911 if things are serious. This unofficial agreement came after witnessing retardation in response when a young guy drop in a grand mal fit. If something like a suspected heart attack, we will do the official and get an AED on them, ASAP as we call 911.

Lol.  Absolute zero.  Every place I ever worked is a zero.  Its every man for himself.

I will no longer be a good Samaritan either.  Once saved a co-workers life.  Couple weeks later, lawsuit.  Luckily my first aid certs were up to date, I did everything by the book, the entire event was on camera, and the lawyer told them to go pound sand.  Still got fired a couple months later because of the constant harassment corporate was getting.

People suck.  Take care of #1.

My co-workers would have to get a flight first, they are spread across the country and we all work from home.

Most of them are useless.  One or two would try, but one of them is a buddy that I've taken a Dark Angel medical class, and TCCC with.  I'm pretty sure he'd be ok for anything that's survivable.

I work with bumbling idiots so they would definitely make the situation worse...got one hiding in the shop now that's most definitely Covid positive but won't go test because "he'll lose pto" even though work covers it without using our pto bank. freaking idiot gonna infect everybody.

100%….but all my co-workers are SEAL, SAD, SF, Rangerr, or HSLD Fed, so the data sample my be skewed several deviations from the norm.

Not confident at all.  There's a few guys that could, whom I completely and totally trust-but they're on different shifts.    I trust the fire team boss too, but he's not always there.

So when I suggest things like "hey, let's get a few of those big WaterJel burn blankets to keep handy", I get looked at like I'm a fucking dumbass.

I work with a bunch of retired .mil but very few former combat arms types.  Most were cyber command/IT types.

I'd rate it 50/50.

Same here. But closer to 80%

I trust my crew with my life.

Was wrestling a methbilly on the ground once when we called a mayday(toned out as an MVA, was actually a botched murder/suicide). Squad rolled up and piled on before PD even arrived.

Alot I'm confident in, they had to go through sere training.

The civilians..... We were BBQing and one walks in. Uhhhh Ryder... The BBQ is on fire...

I am expecting a decent flare up inside the grill. I walk out to flames under the grill. Immediately I shit off the propane and move it as far as the hose allowed, then I took a quick peek to see if it was grease or just caked burnt shit.

Caked burnt shit so I hit the hose and sprayed it down. Then removed the drip tray underneath and showed them the 1/2 thick now burnt carbon mess.

Legit they had no clue what to do, even left the propane on while it was burning. They had no clue there was a grease pan under for years.

I actively work well over 40 hours per week (I am salary).  It might be broken up and not a solid 8 hour stretch every M-F, but I am on call 24/7/365 and they use it.  I might be working on a project at 10am or I might be working on an emergency ticket at 3am on a Sunday, which they called and woke me up for, but they get a lot more than full time out of me.

That's ok too, I enjoy the arrangement.

I laugh because my Brother works from home and most of the time when we talk he is working on his own shit.
That said, when he needs to he will dig in and get more work done in an hour than most of his peers do in a day.
His bosses know this and they give him the leeway and freedom because he's always ahead of the curve.
I guess it just depends on the person and or the company.
He works as a recruiter for tech industry.
