Just stop in at your local grocery store. In the deli section
you can reasonably decent sandwiches. |
Fresh, simple, fast, and the bread is awesome. Probably my favorite subs.
It’s 1000 times better than the fireman subs place.
If you can’t get to a WAWA or to a Publix then it’s a good third choice. |
Back when I lived in MD I always thought Sheetz had better subs than Wawa. Can't say I've eaten enough in the past 10 years to make any judgement calls on the newer places beyond Firehouse being overrated and Subway is meh.

All these Sub sandwich chains are trash. The guys that like them are the same ones that think Chef Boyardee is Italian food.
Life is way too short to be eating garbage. |

Last two times I ate at Jimmy Johns my body had an unpleasant reaction afterwards. Don't plan on going for three.

Quoted: Same quality sandwich as a gas station, but at 3x the cost. View Quote Around here they are pretty terrible. I've been to two. One was OK about ten or twelve years ago, but they were new and busy. I think the business model has changed, because it's exactly what you said - white bread, two slices of cheese, three slices of meat, and maybe some tomatoes. They all stick together in layers because they're preformed building blocks. It was really bad. I would rather eat McDonald's. |
Jimmy John's is popular because they manage is eek out some slight ingredient quality advantage over Subway.
Not to say Jimmy John's is good. Just that Subway is utter last resort risk of food born pathogen trash. |

I prefer Jersey Mike's. They're about the best of the chains.

Hell, how is Firehouse Subs so popular? The whole 9/11 hero thing is over, your sandwiches are overpriced.
Last time I was there I stood at the register, ordered, and before I could get my credit card out to swipe, the kid handed me my sandwich and said "sorry about your wait"

Publix subs are better than anything else, except that the JJ Italian night club is better than Publix. And grab some Publix sushi since you are already in the back of the store where the meat is.
JJ is rich people food. The first time we ordered it was almost $30 for two sandwiches, sandwiches only, no drinks. Jersey Mikes for me.

I love sammiches.
I tried Jimmy John's, and really wanted to like them, but I was completely underwhelmed. I went twice and haven't been back in years. |
stick to the gas station sushi too instead of the real places, its the same stuff and saves you tons of money. ill give you a hint, it starts with the quality of ingredients

They own the speed technique. Tuna sandwich is pretty good too.

Some broke MFs on here if you think JJ is expensive.
May I direct you to the "how to spend 80 hours hand refurbishing a rusty cast iron skillet that was used for meth cooking" thread. |

JJ's makes a good sandwich plain and simple, better than subway. Jersey Mikes does too, however getting a bad case of food poisoning from them I've been staying away. Yeah, I'm sure there are better sammich makers out there, I guess it's where you live Sheeets (sp) and Buc-e's sound like they make good ones as well. In my area there's just Subway, JJ's and Jersey Mikes naturally I tend toward the number 5 at JJ's.

#11 Country Club
+ bacon + extra jimmy (hot) peppers - tomato - ez lettuce + extra mayo + mayo packets Enjoy (hey, if you don't like mayo, then don't do the extra mayo - and if you like tomatos, go nuts...I don't) |
It's ok, it's never "wow" either way. It's usually my go to, no frills hangover lunch. The food and service quality is highly varied lately, though that may be just because the one I usually use is run by college students.
To me there's 4 tiers of sub sammich joints:
1. The local place; maybe its a one-off or a small chain 2. The higher dollar chains; Nemo, Schlotzky's, Jersey Mike's, maybe Firehouse (there are places I havent been to; like WaWa's and Pubix, that I cannot comment on) 3. The lower dollar chains; Jimmy's John's, Lenny's, and some of the gas stations like QT and Bucees 50 ft of crap 4. Subway |

Quoted: What gas station has sandwiches as good and as fresh as JJ? View Quote I think JJ is pretty good. But I always get the club As for gas stations, in SW Pa most GetGo stations have some decent subs. sheetz used to be good but last time I got something there it was not so good. No WaWa’s around here. |
