30 years driving, 5 cars not counting my wife's 7 cars.

83 Escort (purchased used in 88)
90 Plymouth Laser (purchased used in 90)
95 Plymouth Neon (transferred from wife in 99)
01 Chrysler 300M (purchased used in 05)
07 Chrysler 300 (purchased used in 08 after 300M was totaled)

Wife's cars, purchased by me for the household except for #1:

85 Tempo (purchased used in 90)
95 Neon (purchased used in 95)
96, 99, 03, 07, 13  Dodge Grand Caravan  (all purchased at 2 or 3 years old w/ 20k -30k and sold w/ 90+k.  It's the family truckster so the Caravan racks up the miles quickly but must be dead reliable.)

Yes, we are good friends with my home town Chrysler dealer.

20 years driving.  Something like 37 cars in that time.  I was my own "cash for clunkers" program for quite awhile.  I was a big fan of buying a $50 car and using it as a ghetto cruiser until it died.  When it died, I'd drag it to the junkyard and get my 50 bucks back.

Since the kids have been born the cars have become much more safe/reliable.

Some of the highlights include

early 80s Chrysler rampage.  Vikings purple.  Started with a screw driver.  Top speed 50mph(big hill and strong backwind required)  Liked to pop out of gear if you gave it too much gas.
79 Volvo station wagon.  primer grey.  broken front spring.
79 Suburban.  two tone brown and rust.  every single door was dented.  power steering hose liked to pop off if you hit the wheel lock.
82 Pontiac t-1000.  Not a terminator, just a Pontiac version of the venerable Chevette, son of the Corvette?  No heat.  Passenger door permanently closed due to being t-boned.  Custom rear wheel well opening due to same t-bone incident(think tin snip+sledge).

Thinking back, I'm pretty lucky I survived all those death traps.  lol good times

10 vehicles, 28 years, still using 4 of them, I didn't get my license in NJ until I was 22, the fine state of public transportation in Camden County having revealed itself to me at that time. This also prompted subsequent thoughts on self defense, which isn't germane to the thread.

How long have you been licensed to drive and how many cars have you had registered in your name? I know people who change their cars about as often as some people change their underwear. I am the exact opposite. I keep them as long as a can, as difficult as that may be in the rust belt.

I have been licensed to drive for 24 years.
I have had 5 cars in my name.
I still have 4 of those cars.
One car for every 4.8 years of driving.
