People that own small businesses, often have everything invested in them.

From small restaurants, bars, cigar stores, to small manufacturers, machine shops, car repair.

These are the millions of Americans that make things tick.

When they’re out of work for months on end, they’re going to give up.

When they give up, we enter a depression.

Then game over.

Successful SBOs are a tough breed. Dad was one for 30 years.  If anyone will weather this storm, it's them.

Pretty cool, frankly.

Saw the neighborhood kids and their parents jumping on a giant trampoline, today, having a blast.  It might not be proper "Social Distancing", but it warmed my heart and restored a tiny bit of my faith in humanity.

Like everything else, the talented and willful will be fine and those that see themselves as victims will be...well, victims.

It’s no ‘systematic eradication of our main food source, being chased from our ancestral lands(that we stole from other tribes, but never mind that for now), and finally massacred in the snow’, that’s for sure.

I went to school during WW2. We went through rationing and 3 Gals of gas a week. Did it for four years.

Suck it up, nobody's threatened to kill you yet have they. No TV back then.

The domestic disputes have started.  Also, with the weather being decent everyone is out walking their neighborhoods and calling in every minor issue they are finding.

ETA: My 16 year old has been down lately.  He became a very social kid over the last year and this has been hard on him.  His school is on spring break and starts online learning on Monday.  That should help.

I just miss going to bars and eating out, not really actually. I think the news is causing me more grief than the virus.

They are in short supply right now and pharmacists are prioritizing people that need them for seizure control. Our Walmart and Sam's was out of stock of my Clonazepam for 3 days.  Pharmacy manager said I got one of the first bottles that came in.

There's really no "this" at our house.  We're both already kinda anti-social homebodies.  We're both still working.  Our daily lives haven't really changed much, if at all.

Same thing here. If anything I feel gypped that I don't get the time off and go shooting

No big change here, but the missus and I are a bit anti-social anyways.

I predict in about a week in Houston.

Due to a single COVID 19 case from a distribution center, HISD has shut down the free lunch/breakfast program. They were continuing food distribution even with the kids out of school, to keep them fed. But now that's gone.

And for the most part, I give zero fucks, because the news coverage of those pickups lines showed 95% of them driver nicer and newer cars than I do. Free school meals is not a program to subsidize the poors' car payments.

That’s almost a daily event when the weather is nice. We go wild and I knock the shit out of my 8 and 5 year old and they love it.

Lol, it’s like a huge free for all festival here, the parks are full, the roads are full, biking/hiking trails are packed, Walmart is wall to wall shoppers...

Trump's "15 Days to Slow The Spread" is up in a few days...

I think it will depend on what the messaging is at that point. We're probably going to be seeing more bad news stories out of the Kung Flu hotspots over the weekend and it doesn't look like the deaths are slowing down any time soon. Optics could be pretty crappy when he has to report on how we're doing after 15 days.

Will they switch to "30 (more) Days to Slow The Spread" and ask people to stay home for the entire month of April or will they say let's give it another couple of weeks?

Regardless, things could start getting sporty next month - especially with people that don't have more than a couple weeks worth of supplies on hand. I have quiet a few friends that are or will be out of TP soon.

Talking to friends,  domestics are WAY up, juvie crime is getting high too.  What is a surprise is traffic collisions.  That's probably due to the news reporting the police will no longer do traffic enforcement . Therefore people are driving like morons.

Willow tree.
They suck alot of water up.
The only loophole to building an access road through what once was a swamp in NYS is to use Willow trees wisely.
ENCON and DEC haven't figured that one out yet.
What once was "protected wetlands" is now access road for a few trails and such.
They're sneaky. But not smart.

Egads. Just make sure you don't have any kind of piping under or nearby where you put the tree. They like to pry that stuff apart to get at the water inside.

Not to much longer in low income urban areas. Folks will get there check from the gov't and piss trough that with a quickness. Problems will start when folks run out of money to buy food or there isn't any to buy.

I really think the hood rats will be the least effected. They are section 8 so no mortgage. Their checks will keep coming. So far the supply chain is holding up after the big rush to stock up. They don't work so no loss of jobs. Everyone is home so less burglaries. In rough areas everyone is armed so no change there. I haven't been down to the hood to check but I bet most businesses are open there. I mean what is more essential than a used tire store? It doesn't seem like it will impact them much at all.

I think that regardless of what Trump says, Dem Governors like Cuomo will dig their heels in and refuse to rescind their emergency orders at the state level.
They'll claim that they're being more responsible than POTUS and reinforce that the Feds have abandoned the American people while they, the beneficent Dems, have the best interest of the common man at heart.
