How do folks have such old trucks with so few miles?  I can’t put less than 20K/year on a vehicle.

2nd or 3rd vehicles. Most don't need a big truck as a daily, and most with a big truck have budget for a more reasonable commuter

Then you have to drive around in a little commuter shitbox every day… gross.

Average with my 12 valve is 17.9MPG, that's basically all rural and suburban driving, almost zero freeway miles. Best is 20MPG and worst is 16MPG.

My last DD was 5.2 turbo Dakota, I was averaging 13.5 in it, so even with the price of diesel being higher than premium, I still save money on fuel, when I bought my 12v in early 2021, diesel was the same price or cheaper than regular here, so the savings was even more dramatic.

I used to drive 20K+ a year when I was young and had a social life, I got better MPG with the Dakota back then with more freeway driving, around 15MPG average, it's best ever was 19.3, but it's hard to think about how much I used to spend on fuel. I bought that truck with 215k on it and it has 367k on it now. I average 8k a year these days. If I had a long commute I'd drive something more sensible.

I guess I never posted a pic of my rig in the thread, it has 254k on it. The interior is in remarkable shape, on the outside it needs a bed, a rear bumper, and a paintjob.

Mine is a 2019. It’s got about 66k on it now. I’ve considered a new one but after looking I don’t see anything I really like. I guess I will wait a little longer unless I run across a new single cab, rubber mat, crank window, 5 speed with a 10’ bed. If that happens this bitch is gone.

2004 gmc sierra 2500 hd with the 6.0 engine and the towing package.2 x 4.5th wheel.

it shows 198000 but the instrument panel was from a scrap yard (bought it like that) so I believe it has 39000 less miles (according to the trip computer--if it gets stored by the ecm and not the cluster)

it needed work--rear brakes,knock sensors,some rust issues,ball joints,tune up,fluids all around,etc.
I did it all myself save for the ball joints.

instrument cluster needed stepper guages, lights and bad solder joints on the resistors and harness contacts--led lights etc work perfect now.
android radio I installed with the metra "boxes" so i still have steering wheel and amplifier(bose) controls.

deleted the STUPID light sensor that turns on your parking lights if you want to listen to the radio on accessory(removed sensor in dash and jumped the connector).

pics day i picked it up:

p.s. i got that 5th wheel rv trailer you see in the background in the "package deal".

Yeah my truck says 21 and change, but just going by miles and gallons of fuel added, I’m getting a little over 20.

Interestingly enough, it fluctuates wildly based on driving patterns and conditions. Pulling a trailer (obviously) kills mileage, but in regular driving I get between 18 and 23.

3.5 powerboost btw.

Good looking even as it sits. Throw a flatbed on and a ranch hand up front, like brand new again. Both are on my someday list.

My interior is in good shape but has a perpetual sweaty horse note, occupational hazard.

Logged 800 miles today, hand Calc says just north of 20mpg. Mostly I'm country roads, it's been a long time since I've done this many enjoy highway miles. Usually I've got the trailer which is 12-15mpg.

Loving having an aux tank for all the range!

10 years old.  2012 F250 SD 6.7L Powerstroke.  Great truck.

Pros:
Looks great
Fairly comfortable ride on smooth roads
Very quick, especially for a 7,000 lb truck
800 lb/ft of torque
400 hp
17.2 mpg average

Cons:
Shakes at 60 mph sometimes.  Sometimes violently
The bed is falling off.  Damned salt on the roads
Sucks in the snow, even with Falken Wildpeak tires
