It doesnt have a switch to drop the light down to the first floor?

I had the same situation a while back. Turns out I have a buddy that has the biggest size Little Giant ladder. Ask around.

Don't replace them, just buy a new fixture that has fresh bulbs.
|
|
Extension ladder is your answer. Maybe harbor freight? Folding extension type - $80-90.
Unless there is a remote lowering setup you don't know about. |
|
Shotgun that fucking thing right out of the ski. Chandeliers are pretentious anyway.
|
|
Blast it with a shotgun. When it falls to the floor change the bulbs and re-hang it.

Ladder, that shit needs to be cleaned anyways... Once it's been seen, it can't be unseen

|
Whatever you do, replace them with LEDs. You won't need to replace them ever again.

Ladder to reach that sheetrock portico-thing, then pull the chain to you.
You don't own a ladder? |
|
rent a ladder if you don't have one that tall. or buy one. doubt the center piece turns to take the glass out from the bottom.

I'll bet a monkey hanging on to the end of a long pole could get up there and change the bulb.
Is there anyplace local that rents monkeys? |

If you have about 87 railroad ties, you could probably build an adequate cribbing system.

If you are anything like the first time/new home owners/buyers around here, these are some popular options:
A: Call the builder and demand they replace your fixture and bulbs as this home is new to you and you shouldn't be expected to maintain it yourself. B: Call the fire department, they have ladders.... C: Prove to the world your unpreparedness and incompetence of changing a lightbulb. Your move OP. |

I looked around online but I don't see a device I could control from the floor that would remotely unscrew these bulbs. View Quote Light bulb changer for elderly |

Heh, I have one just like that. I have to use an A-Frame ladder to get up to mine because leaning a ladder against the wall doesn't work. I don't have a 12' A-frame ladder, so I have a friend come over and replace them all at once when one goes out. Fortunately he likes heights, whereas I do not.

Do you have a kid? Preferably a small, light one that you can throw.

When you figure out how to get up there, use LED bulbs so they'll last a long time.

That light fixture pretty voluminous. When you need light in your entryway, eschew the switch and pitch a flare up there.

Good luck.
I used to work for a home automation company that had a sales/design guy who loved putting in ceiling speakers in locations like that. All well and good to get wiring there during construction but installing speakers after everybody was done and all the lifts/scaffoldings were gone SUCKED. |
