A fun game for you.

Download this image, and edit /draw a dot painted where youd aim for your weapon.

Note your weapon/projectile/zero.

Assume the deer is 237 yards. (Rifle)

And 32 yards bow

Im gonna aim about an inch or so above that dark spot behind his front shoulder.
Stag arms .223

Pass on the shot with my 300bo 8" pistol. Id be aiming over the top of his back.

Not enough smash in a 5.56 at that range, I hunt with one also but 100 yards or less.

I want to aim to take out the far shoulder, based on the way the deer is standing it would be 1 inch behind the dark spot.  270WSM sighted dead on at 100 yards using a EXT marked reticle I use the first hash under the standard cross hairs.  My 308 is sighted dead on at 200, just put the crosshairs where I stated and it will still be within the killzone of the deer.

Both shots will cockroach that buck right in my belly and on my wall.

3" behind the shoulder crease with both 7 mag or bow. I'm aiming for the exit hole on a chartering away deer.

I'd go with that aim point too.
But maybe a little lower.   That will do most damage to heart and lungs.
Some are too far forward for a deer standing at an angle like he is - for the quickest kill.

Depends where you live and hunt.
If all you ever hunt is PA, that is a buck of a lifetime.

Or wait for the deer in front of him to move.

I'd aim a 1/2 inch to the right with my .270 zeroed at 100

1/2 lower with my 300 win mag zeroed at 200.

With my shotgun I'd be somewhere about even with the back or a couple inches higher (I've got to check my dope chart)

237 with a modern rifle that is well sighted in isn't that big of a deal on whitetail.

Nice a nutshot.  You kid but I had a bow hunter take a femoral artery shot on a deer it died in a few minutes and left one hell of a blood trail.

I'd go an inch high and right of that spot, Leupold goldring on a .270 x-bolt, scope adjusted to 300, 130gr soft point. It would be pretty close to the aim point on the one I took a couple years ago at 268yds. Bow I'm low and 2 inches behind the crease with my 40yd pin

With a quartering away shot like this, you have to compensate a bit further back than with a broadside shot.  I'd go with any of the center mass red dots or the white "x".   Those all indicate proper knowledge of shot placement.

My first archery deer turned and looked at me as I hit the release. Hit chest dead center and deflected off the breastbone, out thru the armpit, bled out in 100 yards.
