View Quote I want to aim to take out the far shoulder, based on the way the deer is standing it would be 1 inch behind the dark spot. 270WSM sighted dead on at 100 yards using a EXT marked reticle I use the first hash under the standard cross hairs. My 308 is sighted dead on at 200, just put the crosshairs where I stated and it will still be within the killzone of the deer. Both shots will cockroach that buck right in my belly and on my wall. |

3" behind the shoulder crease with both 7 mag or bow. I'm aiming for the exit hole on a chartering away deer.

Not quite a shooter. Close, but I'd let that one walk. Does are for meat, bucks for trophies.

That will do most damage to heart and lungs. Some are too far forward for a deer standing at an angle like he is - for the quickest kill. |

I'm jealous of how spoiled you are. I'd love put an arrow though that deer. Not at 200 yards though |

I'd try to shoot the buck either in his head or high in his shoulder.
Or wait for the deer in front of him to move. |

With my shotgun I'd be somewhere about even with the back or a couple inches higher (I've got to check my dope chart) 237 with a modern rifle that is well sighted in isn't that big of a deal on whitetail. |

Nice a nutshot. You kid but I had a bow hunter take a femoral artery shot on a deer it died in a few minutes and left one hell of a blood trail.

I'd go for a Texas heart shot
6.5 Grendel out of a 20" Lilja barrel. |

.257 Wby Mag w 115grn Partitions. I'm aiming at the dark spot with a 100yrd zero.

I don't rifle hunt. I only do bow for deer. If I was in a blind, this is where I'd like my arrow to land. Red spot is bullseye.

With a quartering away shot like this, you have to compensate a bit further back than with a broadside shot. I'd go with any of the center mass red dots or the white "x". Those all indicate proper knowledge of shot placement.
.270, 147 grain Hornady V-max. Vortex Viper 3-9x zeroed at 200 yards. |

That deer would be illegal where our property is. He's well inside a 13" spread.
Wouldn't shoot regardless of circumstances. |
