Quoted: Just remember the difference between total destruction and a few limbs being down can be just a mile or two. I deployed to Michael. Pamama City was devastated, PC beach was not hit bad just on the other side of the bridge. But where Mother Nature was at her angriest she flattened mature pine forests of 1000s of acres and bent I beams. View Quote Agreed, and this storm isn't very wide. The Jefferson/Taylor line is mostly a wildlife refuge. |

Well I’m four miles from the coast south of Tallahassee and directly in the center of the new path. I’m pretty elevated so at least there’s that. I’ve done all I can do to prepare myself and the property at this point. The only thing left is to hang on and see what happens tonight.

West Gainesville checking in. Got some flickering but not much on the first band earlier. Light rain on and off for the time being.
They did evac orders for mobile homes earlier around 9. Kinda late to bail at that point though. |

Thoughts and prayers to everyone in the path. I have a mobile home in Madison county, it is my hunting camp. I have cut down most of the trees around it over the last few years, hopefully it survives.

Quoted: Hermine wrecked Tallahassee and that was a Cat 1. Michael hit Mexico Beach and Tallahassee still got battered. If this goes the way I think it is going, Tallahassee is going to look like Marianna after Michael. View Quote I saw Mexico beach shortly after Michael. The damage was incredible driving in starting around I10. The pine forests all still have a permanent bend to them two hours north of the gulf driving south. I sure hope the apalachicola area doesn’t get busted up again with this one. They can’t handle it economically. That whole area is poor and doesn’t have the resources to rebuild like a more populated area. |

She is pretty far off the coast We saw almost no wind in Ellington/Parrish so far Tampa hasn't had a major hit since the 1920's, so TECO is probably rockin' the oldest power grid in the state. Whereas in places like the Keys, south Dade County, the panhandle, and the southwest Gulf Coast most of the power grid is less than 30 years old for some reason. |

It has quite rapidly gone from a typical hurricane party storm to a scary one. I'm in Ponte Vedra, just south of Jacksonville, and even I have taken notice at this point despite being outside the projected cone.
Praying for you guys to the West. With any luck, it'll hit in one of the preserves/swamps out that way and weaken a bit before it starts truly moving into areas like Perry or wherever it ends up heading. EDIT: I used to live in St. Pete Beach, on Sunset Way. It's a pretty low-lying area, but 4 feet of water there...that's pretty nuts. I've seen it get like 6 inches before. But 4 feet? Wow. My car would definitely have been underwater in my parking lot, and they're just getting side-swiped. Also, that Gulfport Casino Ballroom above. It's on a little stretch of coast in Gulfport, which is slightly inland from St. Pete Beach. I used to go to a bar there pretty frequently. Crazy to see how high the water has gotten there as well. Hope the area makes it through ok; I really enjoyed my time there. Very nice people. |

I guess we’re staging in Orlando. Some guys flew in earlier this evening but I’ll be getting in tomorrow afternoon. I hope this thing loses a bunch of energy in the swamps and I get to sit by a pool for a couple days until demobe. Good luck out there gents.
