My son just got back from 4 days in Yosemite, and 3 days in San Francisco.  He Said he saw  no homeless encampments. Saw one bum. Did say everywhere reeked of weed.

Impossible not to see a homeless person/tent if you're walking, driving, or on muni/BART in SF, unless as the other poster said, he was glued to his phone while being shuttled to his hotel/eating locations.

3.2M views, so at least people can see what is happening out there. But, it's most likely people like us who already have a clue.

I skipped through it in about 10 minutes.

Unlike others here, i CAN believe this.

If your son did what most of us here do on vacation, he's not going to research the worst places in SF and then actively seek them out as if that's a worthy vacation activity.  I'm sure SF tries to keep the more trendy and touristy areas relatively clean. It doesn't make the place no longer a shit hole, it just means they're focusing on making sure optics to outsiders are skewed in the city's favor.

As to Yosemite... other than the recent flooding, i'm not sure what was expected? Fedgov ain't gonna allow no homeless encampment there, ever. I'd have waited until later in the year if it was me, as Tioga and Glacier Point are still closed.

I’m assuming he flew in sfo, which is south. Then heading south to Yosemite.  Most of the action is just a little north from where he was.

They really cleaned that place up then- I lived in SF for 24 until I moved last July. Even the nice areas of the city have homeless encampments of 5-10 people sleeping outside and laying around during the day.

Even the financial district has bums all over the embarcadero. The FI district is as bad as the Tenderloin used to be 20 yrs ago. Maybe they were just waiting for me to move to fix it but seems unlikely.

Unfortunately that is not the case. Even what used to be exclusive areas like Knob Hill the Marina district, Union Square look like a scene from the walking dead. If you watch the news the Nordstrom they are closing is in a high end mall at the far edge of the union Square area right across from one of the big tourist areas where they turn the cable cars around.

I guess that's what i get for thinking liberals actually have at least a smidge of common sense when it comes to tourism. I stand corrected.

I guess when you just tax rich people more, you don't care about losses in tourism dollars. Oh wait.... those people are leaving too.

For reference, he never taught his son situational awareness.
To drive from SF to Yosemite you pass at minimum at least 50 on ramp off ramp homeless encampments.
His son obviously has tunnel vision!

California folks aren’t do gooder liberals they are full fledged Maoists.  Breaking the system and making things unbearable and unlivable is intentional.  Most of the people that leave / have left in the first few waves are their opposition from the right and the moderate middle.  The fact that things have gotten shittier for those left behind is irrelevant because they have consolidated their power which is what they are after, no matter how many Kulaks die.

I just came back from San Francisco and it is shittier than Johannesburg, South Africa.  Entire parking lots of smashed car windows. Total fucking shithole. 0/10, would never recommend.
