Kids are at camp this week so I've been able to focus on getting house stuff done.
Found a pool company (after calling 20+ others and getting told no) that is taking new customers and they will be here in under a month to fix broken heaters. Had an alarm guy come out to start the process of planning a better alarm system as well as various other security measures (he does all the big homes in the Seattle area including Gates and Bezos). Figured out how to access and control the home automation system that does lights, HVAC, and alarm. Setup dynamic DNS and opened the correct port to allow me to control lights/alarm/HVAC remotely. (Home automation company that installed and managed it told me August 2023 was the earlier they could come out and help me , wanted the alarms working before our summer vacation). Added security cameras inside the outbuildings. Researched and fixed a home theater sound problem (no sound even though everything appeared to be working, one of the kids had somehow changed the input on the amplifier). Put up some shelves and organized seasonal decoration storage (wife buys too much crap). I feel productive. #stayathomedadlife Tomorrow will be pressure washing all the outdoor concrete surfaces. |

Going to be 69 here all day cause I plan on staying in my apartment and not leaving.

And sadly no, not a flex that I'm going to be some action all day.
I keep the AC on 69 for the memes. |

We'll close up the windows when it gets warmer outside. 'Lectricity ain't cheap, y0.

My utility bill is actually about $80-$120 less in the summer running AC all the time compared to the heater in the winter.

Quoted: Ours used to get cheaper, it just gets more expensive all the time. More gas in the winter, more electricity in the summer. And we keep our house at 65 in the winter, 60 at night. It's a well insulated house, with small windows, and will hold heat in for a long time. View Quote I keep it 69 in the winter as well. My apartment is not insulated at all. Gun room sits around 55 in the winter, bedroom around 60. |
