I’ve looking at women’s bodies for a long, long time and I’ve never been able to make any sense out of their clothing sizes.
I remember when Oprah was losing weight, a long time ago, and her goal was to fit into size 10 jeans. When she did it, pictures and video of her dancing around in the jeans were all over the place. People were raving about how great she looked, but she still looked like fat shit so ever since then a size 10 or over is fat in my mind. |

So I went looking for a chart to see how a woman's size 10 compares to mens' sizes and it corresponds to a 30.
While searching for that I stumbled into a mens' style forum where a dude was saying he's bought size 30 jeans forever but when he measured them, the waist size is 33-34 inches depending on brand. For shits and giggles I grabbed a pair of my husband's size 30 shorts and I'll be damned, they're 33 inches around the waist. So the assumption that mens' sizes aren't fucked up and the number is the number is now inaccurate. That made me grab 2 of my favorite pairs of jeans in 2 different brands and the size 7 (mid-rise) is 28 inches around the waist and the size 5 (high-rise but still below belly button) is 29. Which means the first chart (and probably all sizing charts) are full of shit.  |

Don't worry about what everyone else is wearing, find what works for you. What looks good on this person will look awful on that other one, etc. They all have very different styles as well as very different body types so while there's a bit of, "It's not fair! We got the same jeans but they look terrible on me!" there's also very little, "She keeps stealing my clothes!" so I guess it all evens out in the wash.
