I got a text yesterday from a former coworker asking me what I knew about our former boss being possibly fired. This is a guy that has always treated me great and done a lot for me. I thought it was ridiculious until I started thinking about some things I saw friday that didnt quite add up.
Just got a call from someone that works with him about something unrelated and at the end of the phonecall I just asked WTF is going on. He's on administrative leave for a fireable offense while someone decides his fate. fuck Hopefully they just give him a couple weeks off unpaid. 99% sure I know what it was for. He's the kind of guy that would break the rules to accomplish the mission to the benefit of the organization and the people we serve. He's also the kind of person that tells assholes and bureaucrats where to stick it. Those two things might have clashed. |

Quoted: So what did he do? View Quote I don't know for sure, just a hunch. I wouldn't tell irl people this but I guess you guys it doesn't matter. I think it's because he padded timesheets for temporary employees that had to work Christmas day. Full time employees get 1.5x on holidays but not part time guys, so he reported their hours as 1.5x actual hours worked. We have an extremely difficult time getting part time help because it doesn't pay shit, but we're extremely dependent on their help because we don't have enough full time guys to cover everything while operating 24hrs a day It's a shitty system, so I think he gave them a little extra to say thanks for giving up time with your families on Christmas and coming in to help, please keep doing that next year and the year after as we really need your help. |

Sounds like a good man, if that's the case.
Hope it blows over for him. |

Hopefully someone up the line recognizes why he did it and just gives him a slap on the wrist

Quoted: Sounds like a good man, if that's the case. Hope it blows over for him. View Quote He treats people like they deserve to be treated. Both good and bad. I figured that out within about a month of working for him, if you do your best hed do anything for you. If you're a piece of shit you're not going to have a fun time. I always went they extra mile for him and got treated like gold. When I had a job interview to promote out of his workplace he knew I was very nervous about it because the job was mine to lose and if I it wasn't offered the position it would be a pretty big public embarrassment. About 6 hours after my interview he called me at home to let me know he was filling out a reference on me and then I wouldn't have to worry about it, and that I could expect a phone call from my new boss within about 3 days. |

This about 5 months after the first boss I ever had here, who was maybe the first person to really believe in me and inspire me to do better for myself, and did everything he could to help me promote into a new field within the department was forced to resign for an inappropriate relationship. So it's not a good time for people who have inspired me and helped me at work.

Anyways...
1950's era cast receiver M1 Carbines. Shooters or no? |
|
|
If they weren't shooters or were dangerous in some way, probably would have heard about it by now.
|
|
Was it cast in India using min tech?
If so, it's fine, just like my sig320. |

One neat thing about these particular guns is that when the company was building them they used all the USGI parts they could get minus the receivers and when they ran out of barrels they were able to buy a large surplus of 1903 barrels and cut them in front of the chamber, ream a new chamber and turn them in a lathe to fit carbine profile. So that's what this one is. It's not an original M1 carbine barrel, but it is a USGI surplus barrel.

I'm gonna use some of the pork I smoked yesterday.
May not check all the technical boxes for carnitas but it's close enough for a trailer house chef. |
