Our brains seem to be trained on an instinctual level to fear knives. A criminal might well think that you won't pull the trigger if he rushes at you, but it's entirely different to run at a man holding a spear pointed straight at him. A 14.5" barreled AR with a bayonet doesn't lose much mobility rounding corners, and can in fact hinder Lootie's attempt to grab your barrel as it comes around the corner.
At the very least, I recommend you have one available. More options are better than fewer. |

Nothing says "FUCK YOU" quite like a bayonet through the sternum.

It’s not going to matter if he thinks I’ll pull the trigger when I mag dump on him in 2 seconds from fear.

"Yo dawg, I heard you liked weapons, so I put weapons on your weapons!"
I see no downside. |

Guns for show, knives for a pro.
I don't recall which British gangster movie that's from, sorry. |

(Unless you accidently stick yourself with it). I did order an M7 bayo for my pinned and welded 14.5" BCM. Whether it's necessary or not, it is way cool to have the pig sticker dangling off the HD rifle. |

Handy to have something to poke the corpse with to make sure he’s not faking having his guts blasted into the next county.

My Uncle jumped out of airplanes in WW2 and stabbed Germans. A real tough man he was. "German was a good tough soldier" " Skin is a LOT tougher than you think" "Indecision will get you killed".

I like the triangle bayonet on my Martini Henry.
But the super-long bayonet on my Lee-Enfield will do in a pinch as well. |

Your honor, the intruder rushed me and impaled himself on the end of my defensive weapon. Win,win.

I have always believed in the bayonet. Sometimes you can't shoot due to people in the background or a malfunction.
It sure helps with weapon retention too. |

Just remember you can't mount an M203 and a bayonet at the same time (unless it's a 20" AR/M16 with a 9" M203 barrel, but then the 40mm round will impact the bayonet if fired).
The original XM203 side sling swivel was designed to allow both simultaneously, but DOD disappointingly adopted the simplified version, rendering it impossible. |

It was just about stabbing really hard .. sometimes combined with a good buttstroke. |

Sir I see you exchanged gunfire with these 2 individuals and they have expired.
However the 3rd was repeatedly stabbed and also expired. Why was he stabbed vs shot? 10 round mag limits sir. |

How often does hand to hand happen on the modern battlefield? Is it still prevalent? Just wondering as I'm just joe civy and was under the impression that its a rarity outside of potentially super-secret squirrel stuff now days. |
