Yes, there are some out there-- Olympic Arms (there's that name again) made an AR in .30 M1 as a factory number for years, and it was a great seller as long as the surplus ammo held out. The mag catch was modified to work with issue mags. They dropped it in 2006 after two years with no orders for them. I bought what I think is the very last one, and it is a serious hoot, but is certainly outperformed by the Blackout.

So an antiquated anemic round with finicky mags?
Probably because no one wants one besides you.
You don't even want one.

Buy an m1 carbine, you'll be happier.

This.

I had an idea to build an AR in every .30 variant I could find at one point.

I have 300BLK, 7.62x39 and .308 and considered trying to source the parts for 30 carbine and Tokarev (Ronald Williams goods).

I'm glad I didn't throw money at those ideas because the surplus ammo that used to be $150 for 2500 rounds is long gone.

Somebody, maybe IMI, had a 30 carbine PDW in the works at one time,  that would have been nice to have.

In decades long past the M1 Carbine had 3 things going for it:

1- Cheap Surplus M1 Carbines (my dad tells stories of barrels full of them at gun stores in the 50's-60's)

2- Light handy Carbine, easy to carry

3- Cheap surplus Ammo.

Now only one of these advantages remain for the M1 Carbine.

When you put 30 Carbine in an AR you loose all the advantages.

Israelis had a whole bunch of surplus military aid M1 Carbines, ammo, mags etc. so they made a gun to use them for lower tier security units.

That's still produced in huge amounts. I've only ever seen .30 carbine in a Fudd gunshop like 8 years ago. Of course I do live in Alaska but I believe it was still $30 for a 20 rd box. But that was a long time ago too.

Only a hobbist would do this. It would be a money losing endeavor for any company to attempt something this. Think about R&D and profits/sales analysis. If I ran a gun manufacturing co. and someone comes to me with this idea he would be fired on the spot.

Also, there are AR 9mm and 300 blackout so it would make a .30 Carbine AR pointless after R&D.

I love suppressed pcc's. I have been dreaming up my ideal cartridge.  It would be shortened 30carbine case that would be subsonic with a 110g bullet.  A must have for my idea is a stratewalled case for easy reloading.

Yeah, weighs 2 lbs. more and by the time all the bullshit accessories are clamped to the picatinny rails, it's about as handy as, and has the profile of, an 8 lb. crucifix.

If you want something like an AR chambered in .30 Carbine, buy an M1 Carbine and put it in a folding stock.

I don’t really see the point.  The only reason to use .30 carbine is in an M1.  There are better cartridges for anything you want to do in an AR15.

30 carbine is usually cheaper (currently about the same)

30 carbine also is not perfectly suited to grenading a 5.56 AR - unlike 300 BlowUp

That being said, 30 carbine isn't a good choice overall as others said. I just think 300 is even worse

Nothing. Part of the .30 Carbine's draw is the light, handy, simple to operate rifle.

Chambering an AR-15 in .30 Carbine would be as pointless as chambering an AR-10 in 5.56.

You’re probably the only one.

Or one of maybe s dozen who would actually want something like that.

Ergo, not enough demand to justify supplying something like this.

30 carbine seems to be close to my 300 blackout loads in some loadings. Funny how some adore the 300 blackout yet revile the 30 carbine.

Nothing wrong with 30 carbine, but carbine mags are not the best design unless you desire it because they are more plentiful

Back in the day early tacticool guys necked the 30 carbine down to 223 diameter and it was probably better PDW round than 4.6 or 5.7 which people also adore but revile the 30 carbine version.
