[ARCHIVED THREAD] - I was called to jury duty for the high-profile Texas track meet trial. (Page 2 of 3)

Quoted: I got called last year. For a murder trial, 40-45 of us were put in a pool. Two to three hours of questioning. Sent us to lunch for an hour or so, then when we returned they made the selections. Fortunately I got booted and was excused and didn’t have to go back. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Calling up 700 potential jurors seems like major overkill to me. I got called up for an armed robbery jury one time and I think the jury pool was two dozen or so. Up to the judge. For Fed, they'll sometimes call 35, and give lawyers an hour or so to pick. You get a rocket scientist - deal with it, you got a rocket scientist: hope you can make a good case! For state level - fucking circuit. 100+ poor fuckers pulled out of their jobs and lives for all day long. And enough of a draw that defense can find the pro defendant racists and whatever they want I got called last year. For a murder trial, 40-45 of us were put in a pool. Two to three hours of questioning. Sent us to lunch for an hour or so, then when we returned they made the selections. Fortunately I got booted and was excused and didn’t have to go back. Last time I was selected was for a robbery and assault trial. I was okay that I got accepted but after the trial ended and the jury was going into deliberations they named me as the alternate and sent me off to a room by myself while they deliberated. Felt like I wasted my time, the DA came up to me later and told me he thought I was the only one paying attention.

|
Quoted: I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell you get selected for the jury, especially with ar15.com listed and a public post saying you were called to jury duty. So if you were trying to avoid sitting on this one, mission accomplished. Once I was dismissed, the gag order so to speak ended. As for denoting ARF.com, it was an honest answer. I suspect my hand-writing on the three page survey might have had something to do with it. I did nothing wrong. |

They called out jurors 200-230 and we got in line, numerical order. I was 225 or something. Walked into the court room, still in order. 200-212 go in the real seats, 213-230 around the side. Start at 200 and they asked questions for an hour or so, really focused on the first 16-18ish. Never made it to me with a single question, not one. Then they started at 200 and approved or dismissed the juror. 1 is dismissed, everyone moves over a seat. The judge was having none of it, I think they only dismissed 3 people. They would have had to dismiss the entire first 12 and a few more before I even entered the equation. “Choosing” a jury would be a game of mental Tetris with a judge, maybe the system is different depending on the court? |

If Karmelo's self defense argument works it will be a bad day for many bad guys. Karmelo, he put his hands on me, I defended myself against the white boy, and stabbed him. White boy was unarmed. They are of equal size, age, etc. So it sounds like precedent would be set, I get to kill anyone who touch me. ![]() BTW.... What happened to "he was unarmed" |
|
Quoted: I think this verdict is going to kick of riots whichever way it goes. Tensions are pretty damn high about it both for the good guys and the murderer. Do you truly believe that white folks will burn down their local Basspro if the defendant walks free? Lol. |
|
Quoted: Has anyone ever been punished for ignoring jury duty summons ? A deputy showed up at my house to pickup my step-daughter for not showing up for jury duty. She had not physically lived at my address in years. I was summoned for jury duty for a murder trial. I knew everyone on the defense and prosecution team. I didn't get dismissed for four days. |

Quoted: Just like how Chauvin's trial was by the book? The judge can try, but the MSM and the left will turn this into a circus. They will either celebrate a black man getting off for murder, or riot and blame racism for putting him in prison. Texas isn’t quite the shit show Minnesota is. The guy that shot the antifa goon in Austin that was threatening people with an AK was able to walk, so I think frying this psychopath kid will be pretty straightforward. The kid’s family also already blew the defense money on various purchases, so “the best defense money can buy” is probably off the table for him now. |

In my case, the only person that got dismissed off the top was a kid who said he knew the defendant. He grew up with the son (also involved somehow) and had spent nights at his house. One lady was having an absolute panic attack and they made her stay |

Quoted: I pray justice is served. We have become so tribal in this country my hopes are low. The tribalism is limited to room temp IQ ghetto trash, and those who have joined the death cult of “universal white guilt”. The rest of the civilized world sees Karmelo for the monster that he is. |

While you are absolutely correct, it should be noted that the jury pool is subject to contamination with both of the above segments of society. |

White boy was unarmed. The very same people saying it was self defense will happily hold the opposite if you're on trial. It's pure tribalism at this point. Tik-Tok and instagram are loaded with people calling for the murder of the shopkeeper who shot the fleeing felon who pulled a gun based solely on the races involved. |

What were the jury questions? When I went to Dallas, they had stuff like "have you ever used a racial slur against someone?" I was like, why are you asking me that? It becomes part of the court record. The answer is no btw, but they really wanted to dig into my personal actions. |
|
Quoted: "We were then dismissed with instructions to not discuss the case with anyone and to not watch any news sources." /media/mediaFiles/sharedAlbum/giphy__3_-1051.gif Read further on bud. |

What happened to "he was unarmed" I would imagine he's gonna get smoked on this, self defense or not, he's doing time and I'll eat crow if he doesn't. If I was a lawyer and I'm very much not, the self defense argument sounds like it doesn't apply here. It's just a matter of how much time he's going to do. Texas Penal Code § 46.03(a) : (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, location-restricted knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a): (1) on the premises of a school or postsecondary educational institution, on any grounds or building owned by and under the control of a school or postsecondary educational institution and on which an activity sponsored by the school or institution is being conducted, or in a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or postsecondary educational institution, whether the school or postsecondary educational institution is public or private, unless: |

But that's probably 95% of blacks, 80% of various "browns", 40%+ of whites. |

Thanks to the OP for this "been there" view. I was called up for duty last year, wasn't selected. CP on a guy's phone. He was found guilty later, but I was personally totally put off by the female prosecutor during questioning. Time before that was a murder trial. I knew everyone involved, so I was booted. He was found guilty, but it took two trials. I do not think he was guilty. The one before that was over a package of supposedly shoplifted hot dogs, I shit you not. I was the jury foreman, and the only male on the jury. |

I can’t possibly believe that. |

Quoted: I was unclear. Once we were informed that we didn't make the cut, we were free to talk to anyone about anything. Those still in the shrinking pool, had to follow his instructions. Quoted: You have never, in your entire life, uttered a racial slur? I can’t possibly believe that. And even that answer is attacked. Race baited in court. What's that Will Smith movie? Ever jerk off in the shower? I need everyone in the court room who has touched themselves inappropriately to raise their hand and admit their shame. |

I believe the question meant face to face not an utterance. Roy |

I can honestly say that I have never used a racial slur against someone. Not once. Granted, I almost never interact with non white people, and I may use certain words among my friends, but never against someone, truly. |

I rue the day when I get called to Birmingham for a Federal trial.
