Please don't do to arfcom what happened to the hide.....never liked that place to begin with, but after it changed hands it went downhill quick. View Quote When the day comes that the Brownells believe the chatter here negatively reflects upon their business, they will drop the hammer on Arfcom. |

I hope the new EE can have a f2f area by state. Or have tags for such things to find them. Would be nice anyhow. View Quote |

Hopefully one of the changes is making our own lobbying group, I have money burning a hole in my pocket to help the cause but there is nothing out there I trust any longer .... from an NRA lifer with regrets

Interesting. How does Brownells feel about direct competitors advertising on a platform they now own? |

I don't think final authority is the right way to look at it, but definitely a big voice on any major changes or decisions. The best way to look at it is that we are going to be working together as a team. There will always be fear of the unknown, but we are extremely excited about this opportunity and definitely not scared for the site's future. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

@goatboy Do you or any of the Avila's have final authority on changes to this forum? There will always be fear of the unknown, but we are extremely excited about this opportunity and definitely not scared for the site's future. |

Welp, guess that's it.
It's been fun, where do we meet after this? |

Seriously folks. There is nothing scary in the plans. We are still here and focused on things we have been working on and now get to expand and grow with new resources. Unfortunately you are stuck with me and the staff for a while longer. You are also stuck with this site how it is (no major rewrite coming for now) for a while longer. Although I do want to continue to improve things as we always have. (Ok so some change is coming, but all from me so you can continue to focus the hate on my update threads!) View Quote |

A real American Firearms Owners Organization rises from the NRAshes?
As the left is celebrating and dancing on what they believe is the grave of the 2nd Amendment Out of the ocean of American gun owners arises the Godzilla of gun rights I trust in the patriotism of the site founders. |

The industry forums will have some change. I can see some of them not wanting to shell out for industry partner or site sponsorship status when their money is going to the competition.

To Pete and Frank Brownell
Full court press on eliminating the anti 2nd amendment laws that have been enacted in this country since the NFA. Not a request Sirs. |

that seems to imply you three owners are not sticking around for long. Are you planning on turning the site over to Brownells during a transition period, and then departing? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

This. I'm not optimistic. When the day comes that the Brownells believe the chatter here negatively reflects upon their business, they will drop the hammer on Arfcom. View Quote Someone mentioned the Fatwallet debacle. I was a member there for years, and when they got bought by Ebates, got the usual "this will enable us to be better" spiel. Ebates and Rakuten (who bought and wrecked Buy.com) destroyed Fatwallet. It was all about money and eliminating competition. Like Aldi's buying Bottom Dollar, GM buying SAAB and countless other M&A trainwrecks. I was personally involved (as an employee and a consultant) for two companies that were acquired. The new owners either closed or milked them dry. There were no "causes" involved in any of these. Straight Wall Street rape, pillage and split. Absent the recent NRA implosion, I would be highly suspicious of this acquisition. Because of the NRA implosion, I'm hopeful something will fill the gap. Whoever takes over running the site (eventually) better have a very thorough understanding of what makes this place tick. Any outsider unfamiliar with what we do and why will destroy it. Until proven otherwise, I'm in the optimistic category for this. |

After the answers received here, I can only wish the Avila's the best. Any further questions really need to be directed at the Brownell's if we want answers. Are they going to get official accounts?
|

Hope no one has ever said anything negative about brownells...Also what does this mean for site partners?
|
|
Yeah the more I read responses from GoatBoy the less optimistic I felt. Says he will still be doing the day to day stuff just like he always has been....ok then why is Brownells involved now? They most likely would not dump money (millions?) into something they didn't have complete and absolute control over. So while everyone may be playing nice for now, it's just that.....for now. They now have a huge liability that is a forum attached to their name.
|

I hope the search function will work better than the current one, but if Brownell’s has anything to do with it, it will suck as badly as theirs does.

In before Freedom group buys Brownells and everything goes to hell.

In on one. Any chance we can finally get an improved forum search tool? I wouldn't mind a change that matches words a little better instead of having to use an asterisk. Trump, Trumps, Trump's for example should all show up in search results automatically even if I only search Trump. IMHO. But it definitely isn't as big a deal as people make it out to be. |

Fingers crossed the change goes well. I think anyone who has frequented other forums that have changed hands, has seen at least 1 or 2 of them suffer badly from it.
Here's to hoping that's not the case here. |
