Shooting coons and coyotes and walking/driving around sans white light is both useful and just fun. And super expensive is relative; I've currently got less than $2500 into all of my NV related purchases, and probably won't spend more than another $1k on it in the next year. That's a lot cheaper than my shitty car habit has been

I think that's true of a lot of the internet forum/IG crowd, but not nearly all, and I still don't see how that relates to NV automatically = LARPing? I'd find NV useful even if I had to switch to white light to shoot, just for passive navigation and observation. That said, if I didn't have the Cola network to learn from I probably never would have taken the plunge. As it is, I've learned quite a bit the few times I've been shooting, at the Cola Wars, and just playing around with my 14. I can shoot pretty well out to 50yds with either laser or RDS; I haven't shot much passed that yet.
