Maybe not so well-known, but it's definitely impactful, IMO.  A bunch of warriors posing for a photo before they went to kill themselves for their country in a futile and delusional attempt to stave off eventual defeat.

Makes me tear right up every time I see this photo.

There are several similar ones floating around. Same effect. Every time.

If we're just posting cool pics...  This is my wallpaper, good for motivation.   This crew is simply doing their job.   The photographer was likely hanging from a bowsprit forestay.   The end of the sailing era, probably early 1920s.

My step Dad has all kinds of historic pics in his house and he posted a photo of the Cutty Sark on his bar. I just assumed Cuttysark was a liquor brand. Smirnoff was his preferred vodka while my Dad preferred Swedish vodka like Skyy and my Grandfather preferred Whiskey from Scotland                                   Attachment Attached File

Karelin is the same age as myself so we didn't know him growing up. We were more along the lines of looking up to Dan Gable. Karelin is a badass though.

The big question is...How many Arfcomers can say they have had their asses kicked multiple times by one of the current members of the House ???

The Jordan brothers pretty much dominated my area growing up. I think my record against both is like 0-30....

I was really young and I can’t recall which photo. This was back when my Mom knew Steve McQueen in the 70s. She used to make me watch his films with her whenever they were on tv when I was 7- 9 years old.   My stepDad also had a life size 1920s beach beauty contest photo from the 1920s in the bathroom but I can’t remember which pic exactly I think it was this one                                         Attachment Attached File

I also learned lighthouse keepers back in the 19th century carried heavy slippery oil up the lighthouse in the dark and many died painting and performing upkeep on the lighthouses.                                         Attachment Attached File

An interesting piece of trivia that I heard is that these steel hulled sailing ships were ridiculously tough.  None were ever lost as a result of hull or rig failure.   Sure, fire, grounding,  collision,  all took their toll, but none failed like older wooden ones occasionally did.

I don't know if this qualifies, but I never forget it, the image of old Liz having to sit alone at her husbands funeral. Gets me for some reason.

I used to live in Lubbock Texas before I moved to San Antonio and I drove by his house fairly regularly. There is a historical marker there. I also got to meet The Crickets several times. They used to play at a small bar and grill called Chelsea's in the South Plains Mall. Great guys.
