No idea. It could very well be that it's the most popular 50 cal so it hit issues before anyone else.

It could be that guy was lying to smear the company.

First of all it's made by Larue so it'll be overly heavy, overly complicated, and overpriced. It won't perform as well as everyone else's gear (because it's a 2004 design ethos) but the nuthuggers will slobber all over it as the second coming solely because it has that LaRue name on the side
If he came out with a line of puffy jackets I'd buy one.

I mean maybe with some return address pointer fuckery, but probably something that shouldn't be done.

Local bar used to do a raffle drawing every time the bengals scored a TD for drinks, swag, etc. They gave up on it this season because it happens to infrequently.

They're pretty garbage - sewn through baffles rather than box baffles are the biggest reason, this allows hot and cold spots to form and gives a spot for wind and precip to come through

Would you bet the price of your favorite jacket that it would stack up to a winters worth of firewood cutting, calving tags and fence building?

We can talk about space age bullshit to offer superior comfort and light weight, but sometimes people just want a coat that last a decade and can be rezippered twice before it turns in to a pile of space age bullshit fibers while they are out working.

Yes I would, because I use it for everything, not just climbing

Been a long while since I've done any cattle work, but I still cut firewood and work around my house and hunt in all of the same gear I climb in. I tried my first season in my old Carhartt and it fucking sucked because those jackets fucking suck

ETA: and getting to most of these climbs isn't a simple walk through open fields or some shit - you're getting dragged at by tress and all manner of shit while on the approach and often on the climb. Plus I'm hanging sharp ice tools from my shoulders all the time, and swinging around with a bunch of sharp implements. If it oculdn't survive that shit it wouldn't be a mountain jacket

Out before the sun comes up
In the elements all day
No rest until the job is done
Not home until the sun is down, if home at all for 2-4 days
No heat/electric/modern conveniences

Sure sounds like work, but hey what do I know, I've only done both ¯\_(?)_/¯
