What can you do about it exactly?

I saw the thread about a drone...

And well dammit...I might have kids playing the backyard or the wife my be laying out...

and God knows...no one wants to see my wife laying out...so what can I do about the damn plane that is hovering over my yard?
Here in Miami usually those planes that low and slow are cops with thermal devices looking for grow houses, they also might be aerial photographers working for real estate companies

I've never smoked weed before...

Usually their energy bill is a dead giveaway, but sometimes growers use portable generators

What if a jet flies through your backyard?

In US vs Causby 1946, SCOTUS ruled , " has no legal authority in the United States when pertaining to the sky. A man does not have control and ownership over the airspace of their property except within reasonable limits to utilize their property. Airspace above a set minimum height is property of the Masses and no one man can accuse airplanes or other such craft within of trespassing on what they own.

Planes hover? In what reality?

There were a couple of the Extras that flew at Oshkosh that did manage to do so for a few seconds.   I was pretty a,azed at what they were getting them to do.  Maybe someday ypthey will be anle to do that like their 1/3rd or 1/2 scale giant radio control counterparts.

Unless its a harrier or osprey, run, because it could drop right on your house.   If its US military, waive and then try to get their buz number.

If its one of these, shoot it down.

Many Light aircraft can hover if there is enough wind.  I have flown backwards before.

Sounds like some BS.  I own the air above my land.  I own it all the way up.

Someone needs to do something about this.

It's my backyard.  My livelihood is back there!

Stare in amazement because there are damn few airplanes that can hover.

But hover over a home (in say a helicopter or F-35)?  He better be 500' AGL, if he's under that get the tail number and call it in to the FAA (and local military flight ops if it's a military craft).

Nope. You get a 500ft easement; less if you're on an approach to an airport: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_rights

Depends.  Is it 100 feet off the ground, just chillin' there?

There is a sizable difference between flying something like a fixed wing aircraft overhead, and driving some sort of remote recreational device to take video footage of someone's property.   Anyone who claims there isn't is being dishonest.
