Had a new Mustang in  '67. Coupe, 289 auto, nothing special - this was the first car I owned and the first car that I had available for my use for a prolonged period. Compared to what I drive now, I would not want to depend on that car now as an every day driver. Now I have more power in a 4 cyl., AWD, ABS, 4 doors, cargo area and a ton of other great features, not to mention the tech. No, sometimes I get an itch for a 'muscle car' like all the other old men, but I really enjoy the modern vehicle. I guess if I could take a stripped Mustang body and drop it onto the chassis of my CUV, that would be pretty cool and probably nearly 1000 lbs lighter.
Whatever, I do have fond memories of raising hell in that Mustang - driving around with a girl drinking Cold Duck out of a styrofoam ice bucket stuck between the seats - driving to a gig 20 miles out of town in a snowstorm with regular rear axle and worn tires, but also with straight exhaust (my car was a same-year repo and the kid who had it sawed of the back half of the exhaust and put on a Cherry Bomb, which fell off after a few months). I guess I was too stupid to know better but the damn thing never failed to go on anything including solid ice. Imagine being a reasonable person driving slowly in 8" of falling snow on a 2-lane road, just following the ruts, and an idiot in a Mustang passes you with blue flame under the car! I treated it terribly and used 20W-50 in the engine - in Indianapolis! Unbelievably it lasted until I traded it in on a new '70 Torino.

I loved my little 2000 tacoma with the 2.4l 6 speed. Stupid light and fun, if I got stuck I could lift the rear end out of the hole and move it a hair.

I would love too. Late 80s 4x4 Ranger, manual trans. I've kind of kept an eye out for one in good condition lately.

I still have my first car (albeit in a highly modified form compared to when it was my dd) and another of the same model that is in stock config. I drove the green one (my first car now modified) to work 3 days in a row earlier this year and couldn't wait to park the thing. In stock config with it everything (A/C) working, it'd be ok. Now, it'd suck.

Said car:

74 Ford Maverick.  In this really dark green color.   Two door model.

Very similar to this, with stock wheels, in fact:

That should have been the 74-78 mustang, instead of the pasti-wrap wonder ford produced.

1965 Galaxie 500.  I'd love to own that car today.

It looked just like this one:

I would drive it again. 1980 Chrysler LeBaron, came with 318 2bbl, AC, power windows, and power seats. Couple months after I bought it the AC unit ended up on the shop floor along with the smog pump and the 318 and 927 transmission. In went a 1968 340 4bbl and 727.

First car was a Datsun 710 wagon.

It was fun.  Sucked off-road, though.  Especially when I tried to cross the river.

Yes. 1984 S-10 Blazer 2 door. Banger many a girls in the back of that beast. I'd pay good money to be back there again.

69 Mach I. 351W with a shaker hood scoop. FMX auto, nothing else. No air, no power nothing. 130,000 miles.

It would suck BAD! No a/c in Florida?

But it would be worth it. Assuming I could keep it, I believe a Marti report would show that it was extremely rare. Back then, it was $900.

My first car was a '63 VW Beetle.  Had tons of fun in that thing, oh fer the good ol' days.  Great car to learn to drive in.  The heater sucked.  The HS sweetheart and I got very, um, creative in it.

Fun in an awful way:

1979 Subaru GL  with the 4WD shifter.

It made about 67 horsepower from the factory.   By the time I had the car, probably not quite that good.

It was a hell of a party wagon though.   MANY a night we had 5 or 6 guys packed in the damn thing.

It got around pretty good for being such an old car.

ETA:    That's not "my" car, there just to clarify.   Mine had fancy hubcaps from JC Whitney and the bottom of the side (under the lower strip / bump guards) was painted matte black on mine.

1990 Red Geo Prizm with A/C.

My family's first new car ever.

I inherited it in about 2006.  Never had any issues with it, until it threw a rod going down the highway.
Probably had 200K miles

1980 Oldsmobile Delta 88

The only things that worked on that car were the engine and the radio.

No AC, heat, turn signals, drivers window wouldn't roll down. No rear defrost or speedometer either.

Would be fun for about 10 minutes and hey at least the seats were pretty comfortable.

Looked pretty close to this, rust spots and all.

1973 Chevy 2 door Caprice, puke yellow and rust, you could see through the bottoms of the doors and you had to chain them shut at night, it moved but it was hideous...NFW now..

Little did I know at the time that Chevy Caprices would become a trusted steed and office for a decade of my life, they had these cool lights and ways to talk to others of their kind and cages, yeah cages were the best part..Crown Vic's sucked in comparison..

I had one as well! Only difference is, mine had a 4 speed. And a street sign for a floorboard, and no exhaust...not even a cat. Just manifold, and about 8" of pipe.
