My young kids are so jealous (I'm an old dad) and want to be Gen X so bad.

I would tell them about the days of bumper sliding home from school.  Can't do that anymore.  Hell, cars don't even have real bumpers.

I'm sure that'll be my kids also. All my kids friends parents are younger than me by at least 10 years. One of my kids teachers thought I was grandpa. I don't look that old and I'm only early 40s. Or I guess maybe I do? I'm

The worst things about VCRs is that old houses all had switched sockets.

So the fuckers would reset every time you turned the lights in the room on and off.

Boomers could and did figure out the printer and the VCR clock. We just didn't like it and if we could get a kid to do it by acting dumb that was the preferred option.

Not my photo but have the scars none the less. We werent living unless we were hurdling ourselves from every janky piece of plywood ramp in the neighborhood from sunup to sundown, or out in the woods playing war games.

'71 model here

Our VCR had a remote control.....with a cord lol.

TV was a manual but we only had NBC and CBS so a remote wasn't needed.

I'm old gen X age 56

Most 18 - 23 year olds would have an aneurysm if they had to live like I did from about 85-90 ...
No cell phone
No social media
Telephone attached to the wall
Use a physical map to travel

I'm glad I lived it.
