Why the heck would you put a structure at the top that's got to be the easiest thing for a grappling hook to latch onto?
I'm hoping they're not that dumb and there's going to be some kind of cap on it. . |

I mentioned this in the other Wall thread. So, what happened to the testing where they had contractors provide their proposed Wall sections and they settled on the one that some Special Forces troops could not scale. It's obviously not this goofy fence, that, as you stated and I noted in the other thread, is easily defeated by someone throwing a grappling hook with a rope attached.

But even considering that a few able-bodied people could get rope ladders and such into place for others to climb, the wall will slow the firehose to a kitchen faucet. Especially if the wall is monitored/patrolled. A constructed way over isn't going to stay hidden long. ICE and other measures can more easily handle more of the ones that can manage to get over it and spend more time looking for tunnels, vehicle smuggling, and other means to circumvent it. 90% effective is a hell of a lot better than zero. |

I'm sure they have cutting torches in Mexico. Just cut a 3'- 4' length out of one or even two of the uprights and they could march a whole caravan through there before anyone knew what was going on. Cut an even bigger section out and they could drive through. |

Israel has only a few sections of the concrete fortress walls, only in key areas where preventing line of sight to rifle fire outweighs the cost, and limiting their ability to see out except for the towers.
Everywhere else on earth that has a long border to protect generally uses multiple layers, much less expensive double or triple fencing with razor wire, a patrol road between them, and puts the cost savings towards patrols and sensors. |

I always imagined a concrete wall (actually two) that were in a "V" shape and 35 to 40 ft high.
In the middle of the "V" are 10 ft tall pointed iron bars. Also the "V" has an opposing face which would be hard to climb. If you did make it to the top, you'd have to span the 25 ft to the top of the other side of the "V" or fall in the middle and be speared by the sharpened iron bars below. |
