I have been wearing Oakley Teeth, Oakley Airstrip, and Oakley SI Assault shoes for YEARS after switching from Nike Shox, but my stockpile has run dry and their current offerings are shit.

I don't like flashy plastic ghetto looking shit that is unavoidable with Nike, Reebok, and Adidas, etc. I prefer aggressive looking black / grey leather athletic shoes that wear like iron. I have looked at the current Nike Shox, Adidas Bounce, etc...and they just don't do it for me.

Here is what I have been wearing forever now...usually wear for a year, but get a new pair every 6 mo. Yes, I'm hard on em.

Is there anything out there comparable to these that I'm looking over?

What do you intend to use them for?  Casual, everyday wear?

I wear Puma's for casual things when not wearing dress shoes.

I wear New Balance for anything involving physical activity.

If you want a shoe that is comfortable and pretty tough, try a pair of Merrells. They might not have a style your into, but they are durable and comfortable. Depending on what you buy. maybe a bit pricey too.

I needed a new pair of hiking boots last August for a trip to Yellowstone, and got a pair of Merrells. Best shoes ever, they're now my daily wear. I can't say enough good things about them.

When it comes to Tactical shoes.........step back, take a breath, and realize that you are considering tactical shoes. There are good shoes out there that aren't special forces grade.
Look at North Face, Merrell, Salomon, Columbia.

Here is a good place to look.

Get something like this  boot

That way, when the liberals are screaming, blood is running ankle deep in the streets you can just wade right in.   You can be tacticool, and they look great with shorts.

Keens are great shoes for casual wear. I don't care what the owners are or aren't. In today's economy and with piss poor management of companies and all the other BS going on I judge solely on the product.

So you were an indoor child? City slicker type? Any why do you want shoes with tread better than my jeep? Is it to patroll your tactical apartment complex? Climbing tactical buildings? Mimicking an extreem-tactical nurse?

Nope...just think the brown nubuck see-through velcro water-resistant hiking boot shoes are as ridiculous as nylon watch bands.

Just because I prefer solid color or two-tone black / grey over pink/red/yellow reflective glitter plastic ghetto stompers doesn't mean I fancy myself a rent-a-cop or other.

+1 Ive had a pair for 3 years and they are very burly. They breath great too. The back can be used down or up for a slip on or strap in(normal) wear. They do water/mud/sand/everything else too

Nope, plenty geeky...in fact I think one of the programmers here wears those to work with his utilikilt occasionally. Of course he rides a huge ass BMW bike too, so it all goes hand in hand.

Love the "no less than 5 shades of brown" theme there with the black and yellow highlights. NICE.

Hell yea, glad to be that guy too. Guess I really am the only guy who doesn't think it's impossible to find a pair of shoes that doesn't look like they were stolen off a bi-sexual inner city youth.

Only UA for me is a CoolGear beanie for the winter months. Probably would make for a nice nut rag though.

ETA they actually lasted me a couple years of pretty much daily wear as walking boots until the tread wore off.

yeah, but your originally-posted shoes looks like they'd be most frequently encountered on the short bus, or at the podiatrist's office getting fitted with an orthotic to offset a short leg or a club foot.

Why are BOOTS constantly being suggested? It's summer...I'm usually in some unfashionable jorts (of the non-tight variety) or Dickies shorts. I had 2 pair of Docs, and the damn air sole would always separate at some point letting water in...sounded like a sloppy vag with every step.

I've been wearing the crap out of a pair of The North Face Gore-Tex XCR's for a couple years. Mine are an older much more subtle brownish green that blends in with the woods very nicely than the colors they offer now. Some salesman commented to me "Nice plasma XCRs", and after the initial i realised he was talking about my shoes...didnt know what the color was called till then.

Unfortunatly the current plasma color offering for the Gortex-Tex XCR is god awefull fugly.  I've nearly worn the treads off of my pair and will need to replace them soon. Not sure what Im going to get since the current The North Face color offerings are so "loud".
I've looked at Merrels in a few stores and the ones I've found have also been to "loud" for my tastes.

The hunt continues...
