I understand why we celebrate the July 4th holiday, but October 19 1781always seemed to me that we should celebrate when the British finally surrendered, thereby verifying that we WERE independent from great Britain.
On October 19, 1781, British General Charles Cornwallis surrendered his army of some 8,000 men to General George Washington at Yorktown, giving up any chance of winning the Revolutionary War. |

Strange thing. Got a zucchini plant that was growing towards the north (over 1 foot). Where its roots were I had placed a rod with copper wire wrapped around it loosely. This morning I found the plant wrapped around the rod with copper wire. Didn't have high winds either.
