The lawsuit alleges Trooper Brian Hamilton of the ISP Pendleton post pulled the woman over for speeding and gave her a warning. He then asked her what church she went to and if she was saved. Documents said Hamilton invited Pyle to his church and even gave directions. |

Should be sued. Proselytize on your own time, do your job.
ETA: The agency deserves the suit because they should have fired him the first time. It's not something that one needs to be "trained" on. They gave him the opportunity to do it more than once. |

Sue him and prison time.
Just fucking kidding. A stern warning for him not to do that again would be good. Fuck a lawsuit. |

I'm sure the ARFCOM Bible Brigade will be along shortly to tell us all the reasons why this was OK, but if you're in uniform and acting in an official capacity as an agent of the state ... you have an Establishment Clause problem if you're advocating your religion. |

Who are the retards filing those complaints? I've gotten warnings before - at least one of them was a pretty chickenshit stop (but technically a good one), and was happy to drive away without a court date. |

People actually file complaints about warnings? I've gotten a few warnings over the years, and each time I totally deserved that ticket. So when I got a warning instead, I just said "thank you." |

Need pictures of "victim" to determine guilt of course.
WTF complains about getting a warning? "Yes sir, no sir, thank you sir" Sit there and take the lecture! Likewise, if you're writing up a ticket STFU and hand it over - lectures are only accepted with warnings |

The Indiana State Police said Thursday it had let go a trooper who had been sued twice in the past 18 months for allegedly preaching to citizens after stopping them for traffic violations.
Senior Trooper Brian Hamilton, 40, was a 14-year veteran of the agency, Fox 59 reported. His firing was announced two days after the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana filed suit on behalf of driver Wendy Pyle, who claimed her rights were violated after Hamilton pulled her over in January. "While all of us — citizen and police officer — enjoy the right to freedom of religion and freedom of speech," State Police Superintendent Doug Carter said in a statement, "there are appropriate and proper restrictions placed on agents of the State related to their actions while engaged in their official duties http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/04/08/indiana-state-trooper-fired-for-proselytizing-during-traffic-stops.html?intcmp=hpbt3 |

Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
I would imagine that the driver suffered amazingly and the taxpayers will have to compensate her immensely. |

I'll take a little preaching as long as all I get is a warning.
Now, if you give me a ticket fuck your preachy ass. |

Good. Bible thumpers need to stop shoving their fairy tales down other peoples throats. Do it on your own time, in your own house.

I'm the first person to throw a stone when a cop is being a dick.
Asking if you're saved doesn't even peg on my radar as a concern. Especially if it's a warning! |

So when I got a warning instead, I just said "thank you." View Quote It was night time, and noticed a car without a tag light. My intention is always give a warning on those. Driver pulls over, and I explain the reason for the stop (no tag light). Driver starts throwing out the race card. I explain that I couldn't tell who is driving the car due to the dark window tint and it being night time. Needless to say, I still gave a written warning. Get called into the Chief's office a few days later, due to the motorist filing a complaint for racial profiling and harassment. After the Chief hears out the motorist, the Chief asks me for my side. I explain the reason for the stop, the dark window tint, and that the stop took place in a dimly light area. I also produce a family photo of my wife (ex-wife now), my 2 step daughters, and myself. Chief looks at the photo and hands it to the motorist. After several seconds, the Chief tells the motorist to get the hell out of his office with his unfounded BS. I was married to a black woman at the time and had 2 step black daughters. Plus I'm half Asian and half white. |

Just more Butthurt from the grievance industry. Should he preach to people on the job? Of course not, but there was a time in the not so distant past that people didn't walk around looking for things to be upset about. Now, everybody is offended about something.
