Fuel lines are half-inch .........

Wide open, it burns 1.5 gallons of fuel per minute on it's way to 199MPH ........

"Normal" driving gets you 20MPG.

Anybody know any similar stats on other factory muscle/sports cars?

I know my buddy that picked one up got pulled over the 2nd day he owned it.

I'm a driver for a large dealership in town.  I had to drive to Raleigh to get a guy to sign his lease agreement on a Dodge Hellcat.  It was a 2016 used with 30k on it.  His lease payment was $978 a month.

The Boss 429 holds the record as having the largest hood scoop on a factory production car.  (until we get a good comparison to the Challenger Demon which may be bigger)

The 1996 Camaro SS holds the record for having the most magazine coverage for a newly released car (it was on the cover of over 20 major publications)

The 1989 Turbo Trans Am was the fastest post muscle car era GM performance car until the LS1 came out running low low 13s when everything else was in the 14s including the Corvette.

The 1969 Charger Daytona was the first stock bodied car to break the 200mph barrier.

The 1989 Trans Am's also had some of the worst quality control in a new car that I have seen.

I worked at a Pontiac dealer back then and we received two of them, one had the hood stuck closed because of the paint on the underside of the hood and when they finally got it open big chunks of paint were stuck to all the rubber bumpers.

It had to be like that when it left the company that final assembly was outsourced to.

The other one ran like crap, spent tons of time in the service dept even after it was sold.

I looked at 1986 Trans AMs that had just been dropped off at a dealership.  All of them had trim pieces falling off and the one I drove ran very rough.  Salesman told me it was normal for their service department to have to "fine tune" vehicles fresh from the factory.  I lost interest in these cars very quickly.

You can be ticketed here for "demonstration of power".  Vague enough that there is a law for how quick you are.  It was originally intended for squeeling tires when the light turned green.  Brought to you by the same city that made it a crime for "unnecessary repetitive driving" because high school kids "cruised the avenue".

My 2001 Damon Intruder 369 RV (37' long) has tail lights from a 1996 Ford Ranger.

We hired a guy to change out the axle seals and he backed into a pole coming out of his barn.  After some research he figured out the 96 Ranger uses the same tail lights.

But I digress, back to discussing muscle cars.

Let me correct you there.  The 1969 Charger Daytona - ( in this case, a Charger 500 with the Daytona pieces bolted on - it had been a press car before being stolen and stripped.  When recovered, it was given to Chrysler Engineering and became the #88 high speed development mule for the Daytona stock car program....) - was the FIRST car of ANY KIND to exceed 200 mph on a closed course.

How many Hellcats are put away as an investment?  How many are driven daily?

It seems that many classic cars from the sixties rusted out or were beat to death by teens

until the car would wrap around a tree and kill the teen.

The 1976 Corvette's base engine was rated at 165 HP.  It was a dark time in America.

On a more positive note, the 2017 Corvette base engine is rated at 455 HP and optional engines are up to 650 HP; let the good times roll!
