Under Fire Series: Glock switches on Columbus streets: Here's how the tiny devices pose an outsized threat While the switches are becoming more common and have existed for decades, they're a new threat to many Ohioans. Here's what you need to know about Glock switches and what the increase in the devices means for Columbus. What does a Glock switch do? A Glock switch is a small gadget that can be attached to the back of certain handguns, usually Glocks, according to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. A typical handgun can fire one bullet for every pull of a trigger. But on a gun modified with a switch, a shooter can simply hold down the trigger. That essentially makes the firearm a machine gun, a weapon that was banned decades ago in the U.S. Why are Glock switches considered dangerous? The device allows a gun to fire dozens of bullets per second, according to the ATF. A gun that fires that quickly can be difficult to control (hence the need for stabilizing braces), said John Gripshover, an assistant Franklin County prosecutor who directs the office's gun unit. That means a shooter with the weapon is more likely to hit innocent bystanders. A push to ban machine guns in the U.S. began after the 1929 St. Valentine's Day massacre, in Chicago in which gang violence led to seven murders using the since-banned weapons, according to news reports. In 1934, Congress passed the National Firearms Act, which made machine guns illegal, according to the ATF. The act was updated in 1986 to include Glock switches in the definition of a machine gun. Let's not actually curb the import of illegal devices from China so the federal government can disperse them like crack throughout the inner cities. Nope.
Let's focus on the scary "stabilizing braces" that turn these illegal machine guns that gangstas shove down their sweatpants into fully-automatic, high-caliber, sniper rifles. The goblins aren't the real threat. It's all those darned white supremacists.

Here's a crazy idea...
Using a firearm to rob, murder, or threaten is already illegal. Having an unregistered machine gun is a federal crime. So, if you catch Pookie and the gang doing thug life stuff lock them up for the maximum amount of time the law allows. The only new thing in this scenario is an unwillingness for liberal cities to prosecute criminals. |

I remember when the streets of the SF Bay Area were being flooded with Glock type guns that were not being marked by Glock USA. Perhaps from China? SFPD Office Issac Espinoza was killed from fire from a selective fire AK - this was right after CA banned semi-automatic firearms. Point - illegal guns are coming in and the ATF concentrates on dealers and safe arrests.

Can't charge a prohibited person with failing to register/tax their full auto. Fifth Amendment might not mean much for non-felons here in Clown World, but felons are still fully protected. So, in essence, felon in possession of the Glock might be a crime, but the switch is free, and felon in possession of a Glock is a lesser offense than non-felon in possession of a switch.  |

Didn’t see any Glock switches on Temu but some of the stuff they sell sounds kinda like it. The amount of stuff from them alone flooding in now must have customs overwhelmed. Fun stuff ridiculously cheap. Gonna see how the Maglula knock off holds up. Plus their Glock keychain looks cooler than the genuine Glock version. The action slides and mag is removable. And FDE! They call it yellow but whatever.
ATF busted a drug dealer here with ten or twenty switches. I didn’t see them but it sounded like some were DIAS. Said he had been shot at and was tired of being out gunned. Doubt he had that many Glocks but maybe he figured most wouldn’t work or last long. But probably just a reseller. Attached File Attached File |
