When I was a drinkin’ man I used to like champagne, and I was known to drink absinthe a few times. Never thought of mixing them, but ‘DitA’ sounds like a surefire way to get fucked-up quickly.

If you like rum and rum drinks, a daiquiri is where it's at. No, I'm not talking about some blended abomination is a glass shaped like Christina Hendricks.

Make your own simple syrup - equal parts (by volume) sugar and water, sugar completely dissolved.
Juice one lime - and get every drop out of that little green SOB.
Fill cocktail shaker with ice.
Add one shot rum, one shot simple syrup, and the lime juice.
Shake.
Strain over fresh ice in a highball glass.
Enjoy.

Did that this spring in Cozumel. Bought a liter of Havana Club for $10, and a sixer of Mexican Coca Cola. Made for some good drinking.

Rum and Coke was my go-to mixed drink for many years. It had to be Bacardi Silver, not spiced rum.

Spiced rum is reserved for making rum balls and spiking egg nog.
