If we detain an illegal we can call for them to come pick them up. But we are in an area with resources. But I don't think they would show up for a citizen who has no control over the guy. You might be able to give a tip as to their location... Call and ask an agent about it.

It could be that he illegally overstayed or is going through a legal change in status (c.f.:https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/maintaining-status). Much depends on how the student's (possibly former?) school is handling their SEVIS record, so it is hard to draw any conclusions without direct knowledge of his circumstances.
Local FBI told me that I should alert them or other local LE if I see illegal or suspicious activity occurring. As far as I am aware there aren’t ICE agents looking to bust singular F-1 overstays for simply overstaying; he would likely need to be picked up on greater charges first for his visa overstay to become an issue. |

You can give them a tip, and they may or may not go for followup. ICE won't generally come out for an illegal until they're being held in a jail or prison.

I think "this mower guy is a honey badger" I offered to remove it "No, just tell him to knock it off" Oh my neighbor says that the weird guy who owns the house behind me was wandering around my back yard, mower guy stops "Get the fuck outta here" hops back on and starts mowing again.
I pull into the driveway one day and my wife and kids are gathered around a big chunk of machined metal like they found a spaceship. "What's this dad?!" "I don't know but I bet it used to be part of a zero turn lawn mower, throw it in the truck kids" |

Not in my experience.
I have one in my town right now that has a detainer warrant for ICE. She has been arrested FOUR times now, and the jail has to hold her until ICE says they're not coming here to pick up just one illegal. So now the jail won't accept her any more. Since she's not a violent felon, no fucks are given. |

I get it. That shit shouldn't happen around here. I totally understand. The next week I pull up and see that it had been done again (grass out in the street). I pulled into my driveway, opened my garage while calling him (my lawn guy) and was getting on his ass about it and before I could get off the phone, my doorbell rang and it was the neighbor raising hell about it. Thankfully they moved back up north. |

Presumably they are going to get a chance to be heard on whatever legal claims they may have if ICE takes them, why should an attorney be assisting someone in avoiding the court process?* *if you are going to be sued and the statute of limitations runs in three days I have no problem telling someone they could vacation in northern Canada for a few days, but illegal status isn't going to change in the next three days. |
