I think it's cool that arfcom is producing their own lowers . . .(or likely just stamping the logo and name on them) . . . . but what's the big deal?  Everybody's saying they're buying one before they even know the price?  I'm guessing there will be some sort of "premium" to pay for these.  I'm happy with the least expensive decent quality lower I can get.  I don't care about the stamp or the name, but that's just me.  Have fun getting excited about a roll mark.

As I explained to my FFL after he quizzed me extensively before handing over the lower.. The rollmark is THE most important part.  Maybe the only part.

Q:  Who manufactured this lower?

A:  Dunno.  It says arfcom on it.

Q:  How much did this cost?

A:  Doesn't matter.  It says arfcom on it.

Q:  Don't you have a bunch of lowers that you still haven't built?  I remember transferring you 3 or 4 a while back and I haven't seen you with any new rifles.

A:  Those lowers don't say AR15.com.

Q:  You know I can make a phone call and get you a lower that says whatever the fuck you want, right?

A:  Whatever the fuck you want can't be AR15.com

Then he was all like ->

And then I was all like ->

And he went ->

And then we lol'd.

You laugh, but it sucked me in.  I have an FFL, so I can get a stripped lower for about half what I paid for this.  Also, this is my first stripped lower ever.

Say it ain't so!?!?

Hopefully I can get over there and pick it up today.

I hear Goatboy got a great deal on a bunch of those a while back.

I heard that these are hand-made by Todd at Special Weapons!!

You mean, with his own three left hands?!?!?

ETA:  I really don't need another lower right now, but I may have to have one of these anyway.

Do we know the manufacturer of the lowers?

Engraving and pictogram markings look very similar to the Hughes Precision group-buy lowers.

ETA: Upon further examination, I no longer think it's HP. I will honor the manufacture's choice of anonymity though, so no more guesses.

"Honey Oye"

I've heard people pronounce it that way, but also as hoo-NAY-oo-way as well as Hone-Oy. I subscribe to the latter pronunciation.

GoatBoy said the company who made them demanded we NOT reveal their identity.  He assured us they were done by a "top drawer" shop.

What is with all the "who made what AR part secretz" anyways?

It's always, made by a well known company or govt. contractor, but always hush hush.  Why?

Probably to avoid the pissing war that would ensue if they named a manufacturer.

I now know what I want more in this world than getting laid (j/k). When can us commoners expect their release?

Beats the hell out of me.  He said the company demanded it, but didn't say WHY they demanded it.

You would think they would like to get their name out, not hide it.

Maybe it actually is Mattel that makes all these secret AR parts.

Most likely a joint Larue, Noveske, Colt and Model-One combined effort. Kind of like the international space station.
