MSRP has sure climbed. I saw a Ruger GP100 22lr for $1000+ in an LGS and had to do a double take.

What happened?!?

I added an old model Ruger Vaquero, ss, 5.5" barrel in .44 magnum

I'll second this question.  Looks like a model 66 or a model 19 with a hard chrome finish, except for the underlug.  It's a PC version, so I'm not surprised that it looks like it compensated.  Hammer mounted firing pin, no lock means older gun, hence my thought it's a 66 / 19.

Have no need for it and with damage to my right eye from Optic Neuritis, not even sure I could hit the broad side of a barn with the blade sight, but a buddy was getting rid of his 50th anniversary single six. So it now sits in my safe.

I just came to the startling realization that I don't currently have an all-steel J frame class .38.  This is absolutely unacceptable.  Looks like I'll be on the hunt for a model 36 or 60, or maybe an older Rossi or Taurus...

I thought the conventional wisdom was that you cannot suppress a revolver because of the gap between the cylinder front and the forcing cone?

You can, just not very well b/c of that issue.

Nagant revolvers solve that issue at the expense of an excreable DA trigger pull.

Correct
But the suppressor guys want to confirm that
And I so happen to have a suppressed nagant revolver. So I bucked up and volunteered to burn some cash for the sake of entertainment or myth busting

A Dan Wesson w/ the adjustable cylinder gap would be a good one to test.

Given a particular shell type, one should be able to shave a Taurus Judge or S&W Governor cylinder, and screw a custom bbl real close to the cylinder.  The .410 shell opens up and seals the gap.  It's plastic, so will flex and allow the cylinder to turn, but it's a tiny gap and the shell mouth won't flex much, so the DA trigger pull or hammer cock will be worse than an original Nagant - unless you make the necessary parts to convert a modern revolver lockwork to push and pull a .410 cylinder in place.

If you do that, would probably be better to make a .38 Special cylinder shaved for wadcutters, and do it that way.

They keep going up. The cheapest one I've ever seen was worn to about 60% finish and it was $2450.

Favorite would be a 66-1 2.5” with a Smith Performance Center trigger job.  I bought it and it came with a spare barrel as the original forcing cone was trashed due apparently from too many 125gr hot loads.  I sent it to Smith and had them install and pin the new barrel.  Got the trigger job at the same time.  It’s a honey.  My 624 is pretty high up there as well.  It went back to Smith as it had “push off” when I bought it.  Perf center fixed it and did a trigger job at the same time.

Must have for me is 2.5” K frame Magnums.  I love them and have several.  They do something for me.  I also love 4” N frames.  They just look and feel balanced.  I’m honestly not a huge fan of long barrel revolvers.  I do have a 5” model 27 and a 8-3/8” model 17 though.  I sold my long barrel 29’s after my heart surgery.  Can’t handle 44 mag recoil very well anymore but I kept the 4”-er’s as I just love them.  I reload so I keep them at “Skeeter 44 special” level and I do just fine.

The 624

The 66 on the left.  Right is a 64.  They both have Sambar Stag grips.

I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t shot the 64.  I have several revolvers I haven’t shot yet.  When it gets warmer I’m going to start fixing that.
