+1.  Not sure why there is a discussion here.  If he can afford to buy it he can do what he pleases with it.  Those who want to preserve it can put a bid in and if they win, preserve it.  I personally think it's cool looking and an interesting piece of history.  Not gonna make a bid on it or get upset at what the owner does with it.

Erase all the history!  Dumb.

Really. It's just one artifact, but the erasure and obliteration mindset is ominous. It can go into a holocaust museum, people need that physical evidence for the future.

There's a significant difference between cancel culture/erasing history and one guy saying he wants to buy something just so he can blow it up.

If it's for sale and he can afford it, more power to him.

For those that don't like it, outbid him.

Why do so many of you hate the idea of personal property rights?

Right because that point about personal property is an excuse for trolling. Foolish people make predictable personal choices, so there is no discussion about property. Except for the troll who invented it.

Not what I was saying at all, the buyer is really just satisfying himself by blowing his load of cash.

No different than the guy who built the classic car Stonehenge, really.

It's his money to burn.

Except the Nazis aren't equivalent to that...

Is the guy wanting to buy and blow up Nazis?

I'm pretty sure the inanimate object is NOT a Nazi, regardless of people's feels on the matter.

I'm talking about personal property rights, and you're the one who tried to bring Nazis into the equation.

Since you brought it up, what exactly are the Nazis equivalent to, in regards to my previous comments?

At some point doesn't the historical and archaeological value matter?

We have a duty to preserve and study history, or else......

Where did you get that from?

I said that if the man purchases the object, it's his to do with as he pleases, including destroying it if he so wishes.

To help illustrate my point, I brought up the man who bought a bunch of classic cars and used them to build a replica Stonehenge.

Many might see this as a waste of both money and classic cars, but as I previously said, it's his money to burn.

Now please explain how you got comparing the history of classic cars to the history of Nazis out of that.

Are we talking 1930s Fords? Because the Holocaust was inspired by Henry Ford.

As Easy-E once said about people stepping on NWA CDs are a protest to "fuck the police"

"See, the truth is, they can do whatever they want with them. They bought them motherfuckers."

(not sure if he actually said that or if it was just movie stuff but point still stands)

having said that......

No shit. This pathological knee jerk to a symbol is a sign of weakness, not strength.  And it is certainly past its sell by date for WW2.  Very Taliban of him.

I notice this guy isn't trying to blow up the hundreds of massive Nazi concrete bunkers still all throughout Europe.  Or all the concentration camp museums.

Really sounds like a 15 minutes of fame attempt.

thats all this is. My guess is the guys is trying to buy it for way less than others are offering and/or already has a plan to capitalize off of it. Probably has his tax guy telling him he can write it off some how as well.

My general finding in life, people that can literally take millions of dollars and blow it up, DON'T do that unless they have a way to profit off of it.

Did they?

I seem to remember reading that the USSR quietly ran a few antisemitic pogroms along the way to the Glorious Socialist Future, for crimes as heinous as criticizing the NEP, writing plays or stories, and having more than one cow.

They also managed to completely wipe out one particular ethnic group in the USSR, that didn't go along with the equality, diversity and peace program of the Soviet Union.

If that is a war grave, that means Germany owns it via international treaty.

It needs to be preserved as a reminder of the evil that people can do to one another. You know, if you don’t learn from the past….

Way to blow up an inanimate object from ppl wiped out 80 yrs ago while you most likely support ppl that want to do the same thing now.

Isn't that a war grave?

Should have left it below the sea.

No.  It was damaged in the South Atlantic, then docked in Montevideo, a neutral port,  They had to leave after a short time, and considered making a run across the River Plate to a slightly more friendly port in Argentina, but discarded that idea.  They sailed from Montevideo with a skeleton crew that got off the ship which was then scuttled in the River Plate. The crew ended up in Argentina, where some managed to return to Germany but others ended up making a life.  Every December through the 1990s they had a reunion-one of my friend's fathers was a member of the crew.

Quick cover up the evil symbol the eagle is holding or it’s dark magic will hurt us!!!!!!

People in the dark ages herding sheep in the ruins of Rome thinking it was built by giants were less superstitious than us.

It’s the symbol of a bunch of German retards who lost and died, it can’t hurt you.

But if we protect this one historical monument from destruction, we can finally end the cycle, right?
