I'll give them credit for the Sub-2000.  I had one for years and it was great and compact.

Plasticy firearms screwed together.  But at least they're willing to try different ideas.  Urination advertising.

Cool video! Cool story and company.

They've definitely changed in the last 5-10 years, way more production and faster release of designs.

Innovative perhaps.  Still junk though.

Feels like they're the only company that's willing to innovate and task risks in the firearms industry right now.

The RDB Is actually my all time favorite rifle, just wish they would partner with someone to make a "pro" version with someone that was more of a hard use gun. That being said my 3 have been totally reliable, just if I found myself in a serious social work situation... I'd grab an AUG.

QC issues aside they do innovate and come up with new ideas

I like KelTec

They make a few gems.

The P32, the RDB, SU16, sub2000.

People forget, but the little P32 and later P3AT completely revolutionized the "pocket pistol" genre, and the rest of the industry rushed to catch up.

Fixed.

Once the old man dies, we might finally get enough of these things we can actually buy them.

Kel-tec is like that retarded girl in high school. Yeah she may look nice and have some interesting curves, but if you do anything with them you're probably gonna get killed and go to hell.

I give Kel-Tec an “A” for innovation (something lacking in U.S. firearms manufacturing since the GCA’68). However, they use their customers as beta-testers so I give them a “D” for execution. My gen1 Sub2K ran GREAT…after TWO trips back to Kel-Tec. I saw enough problems, on the range, with the KSG to avoid them and while  the design of their new 5.7x28 gun intrigues, I am not willing to invest the grief in that thing it will likely take to make it work reliably (if it ever does).

P32 never misses a beat.

Don't like plastic?  Tell that to all the glock users.

Keltec has lemons?  Name a company that doesn't.

Yup, they were 20 years ahead on sub compact polymer pistols. The P11 is decent too.

My Sub2000 9mm has run flawlessly. I use the KCI Glock mags without a single issue. My son covets it.

ETA watched the video.  I didn't know about getting starting in South Africa but that explains everything.

Not in my experience. Bought a P3AT years ago. Used. In that same span I've owned and carried several manufacturer's products. Of all I've owned (I'm a Glock fan, BTW), that little P3AT is the only handgun with perfect record of going bang when asked. Zero malfunctions. I can't say that about my trusty old G27.

Funny how folks go on about the Ruger LCP...it is an almost exact copy of the Keltec.

I wouldn’t say they Rushed, more like the first company took on for the team as a company that would copy “a Keltec”, and then the rest copied their copy.

It was easy to "catch up". Especially when Keltec dude there could not afford patent protection on the desugn.

I’ve owned a P11, and it wasn’t junk, but definitely sucked to practice with. I’d love to have a sub2000, but they’re not $400 anymore.

Kel-Tec has issues with execution and getting products to market, but they are definitely willing to innovate and take risks. I'll give them props for that.

Hit or miss sometimes but innovators take risk.  They aren’t built like $2000 service rifle no, but they don’t cost $2000.

My KSG has been a tank. Probably close to 2000 rounds and no issues.

RDB no issues.  Love it.

PMR 30 total garbage which sucks because I loved the idea of it.  Sold it.  GF has the carbine version and it’s shit too.

P50, haven’t had a chance to find out yet but landed one.

Kel-Tec has been Ruger and S&W's R&D department for the last 10-20 years.

PF-9->EC-9/Shield
P3AT->LCP/bodyguard

I don't get the hate for them.  They do tend to release somewhat unpolished designs that need a bit of work.  They also underproduce, due to reluctance to take on debt/finance a normal manufacturing operation.

I assume Ruger and Smith engineers get in fights in the Kel-Tec parking lot at 2AM when they're dumpster diving for ideas.

Only at Arfcom...

A true "American" success story: Keltec was created by an immigrant, who married an immigrant, desgns, manufacturesand sells everything to a constant backorder.

I was in a local gun shop the other day. Laid eyes on the first 9mm Glock mag Sub 2000 I've seen in an age. They had just come in and only four remained. Yeah, Keltec is hurting.

They innovate more than any other three companies combined.

But due to them focusing on new innovations their designs aren't as polished. You shouldn't expect them to be as they are blazing new trails vs producing firearm designs that are literally older than your great great grandpa.
