I did that drive early mornings, 5 days a week, for 35 years. I am glad that I am done with that.
It was never a good drive (except during the COVID shutdown). It is a horrible drive when crazy people like that are out being crazy. Some of the more memorable delays were: - Rollen Stewart in a standoff with LAPD that blocked Sepulveda so that I couldn't get on the 405. - Mayor Mayor Bradley told everyone to go home from work in the middle of the day during the '92 riots. Over 4.5 hours to drive 50 miles. - Someone was hauling a large homebuilt concrete ship on a trailer and it collapsed, blocking the road that I used to get on the 405 for several days. - A Messerschmitt Bf 109 crashed on the 101 (between the 405 and my house) and blocked the road for hours.  - A truck hauling molten sulfur dumped its load on the 405 blocking the northbound lanes in Culver City for several days.  Attached File- A contractor in an overloaded pickup truck was speeding through fast moving bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour and started bouncing between vehicles, including the one that I was in. I was in a 12 passenger van that was going about 65 when it was hit and it started spinning but did not overturn. It completely shut down the freeway for 2 hours during rush hour.  Attached File |

I fully support pulling up along side any fleeing vehicle going the wrong way on an interstate, and giving them a face full of 12 guage. Fleeing drivers are a menace to society and need to be removed before they can cause serious injury or death. |

Officers response when she jumped onto the tractor hood was weak. She should have immediately received less lethal rounds, taser, spray, or had been snatched off that hood so fast.

A wrong-way driver in a van crashed into a big rig and two other vehicles on the 405 Freeway in West Los Angeles at the end of a police pursuit that began early Friday morning in Venice.
The pursuit started after officers responded to a call about a woman causing a disturbance in a Venice neighborhood. After officers responded, the woman backed a white van into patrol cars, leaving two officers hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. A resident told NBCLA the woman, whom the resident described as homeless, was screaming throughout the night outside an apartment complex and harassing neighbors. Link |
