Closed cell foam covered with duct tape does the job nicely. They're surprisingly difficult to see out of, though. Also, hot.

Bottom one kinda brought a tear, I gotta confess.

Meh. I don't really get it.

I understand what the meme is trying to do, but when you realize that the none of the Crusades really were that successful, these jokes seem rather flat.

The fourth Crusade in particular was probably the one event that did the most damage to Christianity more than any other event in the last 1000 years.

The world needs more crusader related morale patches.

Related: I haven't found anybody that could do a Vatican flag patch in multicam or other tactical like colors.

I might have to start saying saracen.

It's much more simple than Islamic extremist.

If you want history memes the Polandball thread is that way --->

For me, I'm just wondering what started this. Did someone on Reddit or one if the Chans decide on a meme war against Islamic extremists?

Anyone else wondering about the back-story, begin reading "a crash course on the crusades" here:

https://onepeterfive.com/a-crash-course-on-the-crusades/

As for recent history: in a nutshell: former president Bill Clinton gave a speech in 2001 (weeks after 9/11) to Georgetown University students where he completely mis-characterized the Crusades as Christian aggression and unwarranted hate agains peaceful Muslims in Jersusalem.

The left has been exploiting that ploy for political gain ever since.

I'd lay main blame for that perception in the popular mindset with Sir Steven Runciman, whose history of the Crusades, published in the early 50s, was very well written, but very short on good historical scholarship.  He was very poor and biased with his interpretations drawn from the primary sources, on top of which he let his Byzantine bias strongly influence his view of the Latin countries.
