The USN has historically done very well with missiles.

Sparrow, Sidewinder, Talos, Standard family, Polaris, Trident, Tomahawk, Harpoon.

It's a pretty impressive pattern.


amazing what you can do with airpower when you aren't mentally slaved to airplanes.


Or, airfields.

Sometimes I wonder if we didn't give up on amphibious capability too hastily.

A modernized Seamaster with freighters modified to serve as Tenders would have some interesting potential.

The USAF wouldn't allow it. But yes, it was a much more survivable strategic air breather than the entire B- fleet.
