Because birth certificates are designed to show biological parents, and two lesbians / two gay men cannot produce a child without a member of the opposite sex being involved in some capacity, no matter how hard they wish otherwise. Adoption assigns responsibility ( and financial responsibility) for said child to the adoptive person, removing biological parent responsibilities / rights. Many a husband has adopted his wife’s kids and lived to regret it as in a lot of cases the woman divorces the guy before adoption ink is dry, as bio dad was a broke dead beat and new adoptive dad makes good money, and now her divorce that would have produced little, now produces biggly. |
