They don't do beans with brown sugar and hickory smoke. Just beans in a light tomato sauce.
Reminds me of the "bean component" in the old brown bag MREs. Loved those with the crackers crumbled up in them. |

Having been to England and eaten British cuisine...
No thanks. Damn red coats colonized the world in search of spices and didn't use a single one in their cooking. I'm Cajun French heritage... we know how to cook beans. |

I can get the 'real' Heinz beans easily here in NC in both Harris-Teeter and Publix in the International aisle.
Beans on toast ... wee bit of cheddar cheese on top, well buttered toast. Ohhhhhhhhhhh, suits you sir! |

Quoted: When I was working in Australia folks here used to ask how the food was. I'd always reply, "very British, and you notice you never see any famous British restaurants or anyone talking about going to British cook school or classes". It's not that it's bad, it's just bland which I assume is why Indian, Malaysian, Indonesian, etc. were so popular there and in England. Just based on my own experience working with a fair number of Brits and Aussies over the years, most I've met don't tend to like hot spicy either. Quoted: Ohhhh no... this is quite quite different... So you cook your bacon, proper bacon of course not that American stuff, and then you take your slice of plain white bread and fry it in the leftover bacon fat... That would of course be what's on the plate with your traditional English breakfast not toast. Toast goes in the toast rack... Philistines everywhere!.
