I feel bad for the innocent Russian conscript kids who died in this attack, but Russia caused their deaths not Ukraine. I would assume anti-drone tech and weapons are one of the highest priorities in every professional military now. Once upon a time the right would cheer when a major enemy of America got bitch slapped. Now there is a contingent on the right that actively cheers for America's enemies.. Sad but true. It's fucking strange... Weak minds are easily corrupted by online propaganda. To see so many, even here act that is disgusting. |

View Quote The West has a number of weapons that can be used on drone boats and/or suicide speed boats. We started working on the problem after the USS Cole. Some of the systems include upgrading the heck out of Phalanx so it has a robust antisurface capability, 25mm and 30mm chain guns, hellfire missiles in vertical launchers (LCS only now, but they could easily be put on other vessels) laser systems of various types, the Brits stuck Martlet missiles on their chain gun mounts, we also have helicopters on all of our ships that can carry several weapon systems that can take out small boats. We also have some impressive naval EW systems for soft kills. The Russians don't really have any of that. The closest they come are their CIWS variant, but it does not have the optics for rapidly maneuvering surface targets and mounting PKM'S on their decks. The two are not the same. |

Quoted: You're using it incorrectly in two ways. Firstly, the phrase "letting the cat out of the bag" implies a secret has been let out. Unless you're suggesting drones were a secret, the colloquialism you're looking for is "you're not putting the genie back in the bottle", the past version of "the genie is out of the bottle", which is more related to a major development or change that quickly become widespread and will never be undone. Secondly, you're using it in past reverse which people simply do not say with that phrase. A similar idiom in meaning is to "spill the beans", and again nobody really says "the beans aren't going back in the pot." "The cat is not going back into the bag" sounds like something Balki would say for laughs. To people who grew up in the United States speaking English these are just natural idioms. Easy to get tripped up on if you've studied English and are trying to impersonate a native speaker. View Quote EMERGENCY, every body to get from street! |
