One of the many reasons I am here. I mean, people can make fun of this place, but I almost always learn something.

The only problem I see with that theory: there are a considerable number of very ancient artifacts (hand axes, etc.) that have been dug up within the concentric rings.    Many of those artifacts are in excess of 1 million years old, and date back to some of the earliest tool users that we know about.

So if a huge flood washed through and wiped out the city 12,000 years ago, why would it leave behind only artifacts that are hundreds of thousands (or potentially a million plus) years old?

One could argue that stone age tribesmen frequented the area _after_ the city was wiped out - but in that case, shouldn't those artifacts be newer?

Maybe the evidently very powerful flooding washed away the more recent objects?

If I were to look, it would be in the area of the Gettysburg and Ormonde Seamounts.

They are in the right location outside the Strait of Gibraltar, and at less than 100 ft deep they could be fully exposed during an ice age when ocean levels drop.
Strange that the charts of the area are very incomplete on https://usa.fishermap.org/depth-map/atlantic-ocean/
One would think it's proximity to Europe would make it heavily fished.

Around the Azores?

Much closer to Europe and in water that averages much more shallow than around the Azores, but are submerged.

I read an article that made a good argument for near South America too, based mostly on the layout of the city IIRC.

I have a Capt’n Crunch treasure map, it is equally as accurate.

The was no Atlantis, if there was someone would have shown up wanting reparations.

90 degree magnetic pole shift every 6500ish years caused the destruction, flooding, etc

Except there is no signs of a massive body of water in that area and the surrounding terrain has not changed in less than 10K years, or so I read some place ...

Atlantis (ancient) was made up.
Atlantis (in the Caribbean) Resort is a hoot and way more fun than getting eaten alive by sand flies in africa.

So...Global Warming then?

It clearly a geological feature.

Basically the core is an intrusive igneous complex, when this was emplaced it caused doming of the local country rocks which were then eroded forming a circular pattern with different levels of erosion based on how hard or soft the individual strata were.

Very straightforward.

Ok so all that obvious evidence of massive amounts of water is not relevant?

The Richat structure seems too big to be a city to me, but that area was under water in the past, and close enough for the salt deposits to still be visible.
