I miss Skips Friendly Village in Afton.
Small town Wisconsin taverns are unique |
|
That's obviously a child's portion. No slaw, no rye bread. Literally everything on your plate should be deep fried, the walleye, perch, cod, shrimp, taters, everything! Not the healthiest State for some reason.
WI fish fry is best fish fry. |
|
I miss going up to Winneconne to fish and eating at the small local places. Just don’t go in to them wearing Chicago sports apparel.

There’s a container on the salad bar that’s dark brown with orange sprinkles on top. I took a scoop. Turns out it’s chocolate and French vanilla pudding layered with crushed butterfingers on top! OMG was it good.

What I would give to be eating lunch at The Wolf Creek Bar.
Used to go with my grandpa when we were up at the cabin. The place had a live, caged bear up until the late 90s. Saw a 5-7 year old kid have his first beer right at the bar with his folks. Pure Wisconsin. |
|
Swap the PBR for a brandy old fashioned sweet and it would be perfect.

Not that the log cabin siding, wooden table, or subway heaters for soups are uncommon in this state… but I agree with the other fella something looks familiar here.
Where are ya? |
|
I approve. I'm moving out of state for school in July - I'm going to miss home.

Quoted: Plenty of good beer in WI. Locals stick to what works for them. 3 bucks for a long neck domestic, or can. Gross no sneeze guard over the buffet line and the utilensils are just out like that for people to dip their hands in after they've pooped and not washed their hands.
This is why I hate small town places. I can imagine the back of the house has some horrific food handling and safety practices. and ice for refrigerateration? Enjoy your diarrhea. |

Wisconsin taverns and U.P. Supper Clubs just had this feel to them. I can feel it just looking at those pictures. I need to get back up there sometime for the memories.

Yes! I knew there would be fish involved.
Miss the supper clubs and taverns up there. |
